A Finnish tourist, Kenneth Mikael Konttinen, reported the theft of his Rolex watch valued at over 700,000 baht and 5,000 baht in cash. This incident occurred after he brought two Thai bar workers to his hotel room in Pattaya’s Jomtien area early on March 30. Konttinen filed a complaint at Mueng Pattaya Police Station around 2 a.m.

Konttinen explained to police that he met the women at a bar and invited them back to his hotel. After continuing to drink together, he fell asleep and later discovered the theft of his belongings. The identities of the women remained undisclosed, and no descriptions were released to the public.

The authorities intend to review CCTV footage from the bar to the Finnish tourist’s hotel to help identify the culprits. Police plan to summon the individuals involved for questioning as part of the investigation. This incident underscores the challenges of tourism-related theft in popular destinations like Pattaya.

Looking ahead, authorities aim to enhance security measures to prevent similar incidents. Tourists are advised to remain vigilant, especially when interacting with strangers in nightlife settings. The ongoing investigation seeks to resolve the case and possibly recover the stolen items.

Only got himself to blame. Should always put valubles in the hotel safe.

Leave the bling at home, nobody cares. I have several 300 baht Chinese watches that work just fine when traveling.

He brings two bar workers back for drinks and falls asleep. When he wakes up he's surprised to discover that the girls, his Rolex, and cash have gone.

At least they left his phone behind, in case he can needed to check the time!

Safes can be opened. Hide the stuff somewhere

Either way , anyone who brings 2 women to his room and drinks till he passes out is an idiot

Oh no, his brand new Rolex he bought on walking street.

You tend to get a room safe these days..... they use tactics so they know the combination. Should have left the watch on

Chances are that it wasn't actually a pair of women that nicked his cash and Rolex. coffee1

The hotel should have a copy of the girls’ id card unless it was a shady place in which case guy with a real Rolex should not have been staying there.

Hey Kenneth Mikael Konttinen,

Sorry to hear about the Rolex theft, but I thought that was next week?

My bad.

Next time, wear a Rulex.

Anyone who brings 2 women into their private space is an idiot. Women when they are together will do things that they would never do by themselves. It is a terrible dynamic to be in. Imagine the ridicule they were giving the guy behind his back

2 days earlier he bought the 700,000 Baht Rolex on the Beachroad on special offer, guaranteed genuine, for 1000 Baht.

How can you be so stupid????

700, for 2 blow jobs sounds like a slight overcharge.

Could've been a diet Pepsi and he still would have passed out.

Methinks his drink may have been adulterated.

That’s true….

Last year I watched a TikTok video about opening hotel safes - the safe on the video lores looked similar to the safe in my hotel room so I followed the instructions in the video - the safe opened with a very simple ‘backup’ process of pressing # & a sequence of numbers….

That might have been the point of bringing two back.

Stupid girls (and guy) surely they knew how easy it would be to track them from CCTV in the bar - especially if they were working in the bar & barfined.

Should have done what the US prisoners did in Vietnam. Put the watch in the rear where the sun doesn’t shine. The Pulp Fiction movie was a good example with Butch

the thai women if identified will say he fell asleep and we left and forgot to close the door.

Maybe sleep was assisted, you take shower, we spike drink. Happens.

Great cautionary tale here...

I'm not a Rolex kind of guy. But if I was, it would stay at home and I'd wear a fake on drunken holidays in the 3rd world.

Back home, it would be different. I had a good friend in Texas whose kid went to prison for life because he shot a fellow student for a Rolex. I'd hate to get shot for a fake Rolex. That would be embarrassing. Nobody's going to shoot me for my $20 Casio, which is (arguably) rated the best watch in the world, dollar for dollar.

Oh dear that brand-new Rolex it had only been worn for an hour after purchasing it from the street vendor who assured him it was 100% real and he will drop the box around him tomorrow I guess he doesn't need the box any more

And his front probably.

And how would they do that I wonder?

Proves the point I've made repeatedly on this forum.

It's stupid to own a Rolex, apart from maybe Monaco where everyone else around you is also a multimillionaire and wearing one.

It's way too flashy and way too much of an arrogant piece of jewelry that makes criminals salivate.

Haven't been back since the Commies crushed it, but Hong Kong used to be a place where even bus drivers wore Rolexes. Yes. Real Rolex watches. You should visit some used jewelry stores on Kowloon side, they have displays with hundreds of Rolexes. That's what happens in a gambling society when people buy flash when they win and hock during a losing streak. I'd imagine Las Vegas is probably the same.

Me? I live in Silicon Valley, Rolexes are common, but successful people wear much better watches, -or a Casio.
