Most love songs are written from a loss or someone special. The Commodores Three times a lady. How many of us have danced to this with your special one when you've had a few. Another favourite of mine and 1 i picked this as my wife walked out of the Church after getting wed was this ?? let you guess the song. "

My life has been such a whirlwind since i saw you

Iv'e been running around in circles in my mind

and it always seems that i'm followin' you girl

Cos you take me places

that alone i'd never find.

In one my friend.

Insomnium: "Shadows of the Dying Sun," "Heart Like a Grave"

There must be nothing sadder than the loss of a child......

'Tears in Heaven' was written by Eric Clapton and Will Jennings .The song was inspired by the devastating loss of Clapton's four-year-old son, Conor, who fell from a window in a New York City apartment. This tragic event deeply affected Clapton, leading him to take a six-month hiatus from music before he began writing again.

It took me a long time to be able to listen to this song without tears welling up in my eyes:

Another favourite of mine ......
'Telephone Line' by ELO is a sad song about loneliness and longing. The narrator calls a loved one who doesn’t answer, expressing heartache and quiet despair beneath its sweet melody.

Great songs there guys specially Tears in heaven i remember that in the News leaned agaisnt a window and it opened.

Very poignant during my divorce...... A very cynical, reflective look on the disappointments of life and relationships.

I have just come across a song called " Meet you at the graveyard" by Cleffy

No idea who he is ...but ...the song tells you particularly if your over the age of 60 not to be concerned about what others are doing , don't sweat the small stuff

I had to tell an old 74yo work colleague recently that song and I sung a few lines to him

Meet you at the graveyard

And although I love this song, arrangement and writer, what WERE they throwing off the bridge. I have my suspicions,

I think, and am very sure given the rest of the lyrics, they were throwing off a fetus because of a miscarriage, or more likely because of Billy Jo’s following suicide, one that they had aborted themselves.

Probably a supermarket trolley .

Who's That Man by Toby Keith

Hit close to home as my wife, whom I sent to university to finish her degree, came back with a degree and her "lab partner" in tow.
The cheating **** got a full-ride scholarship compliments of yours truly and then shafted me at the exact time I was "RIFed".

That's my house and that's my car
That's my dog in my back yard
There's the window to the room
Where she lays her pretty head
I planted that tree out by the fence
Not long after we moved in
There's my kids and that's my wife
Who's that man running my life?

And yet that was the moment I chose to sell everything, pack a backpack and a day pack, and climb on a plane from LA to BKK and never look back.
She did me a favor. Maybe one day I'll forgive her - or not. There is something about that kind of treachery that really destroys your heart.

I wouldn't call that sad, I'd call it sardonic, especially considering its context.

Whatcha gonna do?

Time's caught up with you

Now you wait your turn

You know there's no return

Take your written rules

You join the other fools

Turn to something new

Now it's killing you

First it was the bomb

Vietnam napalm

Disillusioning

You push the needle in

From life you escape

Reality's that way

Colors in your mind

Satisfy your time

Oh you, you know you must be blind

To do something like this

To take the sleep that you don't know

You're giving death a kiss, oh, little fool now

Your mind is full of pleasure

Your body's looking ill

To you it's shallow leisure

So drop the acid pill,

Don't stop to think now

You're having a good time baby

But that won't last

Your mind's all full of things

You're living too fast

Go out enjoy yourself

Don't bottle it in

You need someone to help you

To stick the needle in, yeah

Now you know the scene

Your skin starts turning green

Your eyes no longer seeing

Life's reality

Push the needle in,

Face death's sickly grin

Holes are in your skin,

Caused by deadly pin

Head starts spinning 'round

You fall down to the ground

Feel your body heave

Death's hands starts to weave

It's too late to turn

You don't want to learn

Price of life you cry

Now you're gonna die

I never found songs sad. I find that lyrics destroy everything. I find instrumental move scores sometimes sad, melancholic.. depressing.

Vangelis was one of those guys. The ending of "The Bounty" or opening of "Blade Runner".

The thing about music scores is that even a <deleted> movie like Gladiator can be redeemed by excellent music score

My high school sweetie and I broke up at that movie, so there! :)

Don't bring him into this Topic or your haters crap take it where it belongs Yellowtail.

This one have stick with me since I was kid for some strange reason. Long time before I knew or could understand the lyrics

“Aha’s Lifeline album always takes me back to 2022, the craziest year of my life. That year, I lost six people I knew through sport, three of them close friends within just two months. Whenever I hear ‘Lifeline,’ it takes me straight back.

Living life to the fullest comes with a price, and I feel like I’ve paid my share. Looking back, I’m grateful I made it through alive.

And every time I hear someone say, ‘At least they died doing what they loved,’ I cringe. That’s easy to say when you haven’t seen where that road can lead

Yes an amazing song there Hummin remember the opening Bass lines a true classic. A favourite of mine although strangely a Instumental is " A song for Guy " by Elton John wrote about a young lad called Guy Burchett 17 from Eltons record label who was tragically killed on a moter cycle.

She got married to someone else whilst she was married to you? Hmmm... that might make you feel sad.

I had it, but I couldn't bring myself to post it, as I'm not a fan of eighties music. All that talking and whining. The decade that music forgot. 😊 Sorry 🤗

It was a obviously a joke 😊 Why on earth should you be sad about such a happy time? I was trying to cheer you up. So why is it sad?

This isn't a joke thread there is a thread about jokes maybe you should go there.

Anti Nowhere League with "I'm an Animal".

Any song that starts with "Hello Mrs Shaw, can I borrow your lawnmower, or parts of your body?" gets my vote.

Sad for his neighbour as someone's gunna be cutting his lawn.🙃🙃
