I read what you wrote. That in itself doesn't appear to be a sad event. So why would you attach a sad song to it? Some people take the time to describe why it is a sad song to them, especially if the song doesn't speak for itself. I asked a pertinent question.

I've actually taking the time to listen to some of the songs posted here. Would someone insincere do that? You don't have to be sad and depressed to post a sad song. Lighten up 😊

April 8Apr 8 Not wanting to derail the thread, I get the feeling that people may perhaps process their emotions differently. Some of the songs I heard aren't really sad at all to me. So it's likely comes down to the actual event to which they attach the song. There are some songs that may bring a tear to my eye, I might not even know why initially. That's okay. It's not a bad thing if someone asks me why. I may choose to not talk about it, but that doesn't mean the other person is bad for asking. I might have posted such a song myself, but they cannot be found on YouTube.

And I have watched that movie at least 10 times by now.

Long time before I knew or could understand the lyrics“Aha’s Lifeline album always takes me back to 2022, the craziest year of my life. That year, I lost six people I knew through sport, three of them close friends within just two months. Whenever I hear ‘Lifeline,’ it takes me straight back.Living life to the fullest comes with a price, and I feel like I’ve paid my share. Looking back, I’m grateful I made it through alive. And every time I hear someone say, ‘At least they died doing what they loved,’ I cringe. That’s easy to say when you haven’t seen where that road can leadHow the devil do you lose 6 people to sport?Did they die or just find another hobby?🙃🙃

Slightly embarrassing, wondering if anyone could see that I was welling up at my desk 😊

I’ve lost 67 people I knew through the sport, out of maybe 300 of the most active at the time. And that’s not even counting skydiving, climbing, motorbikes, or all the other ways people died outside the sport. There were suicides too, and plenty of stimulant and drug abuse in those circles. It comes with the territory, and with the kind of people drawn to that life. After a few decades, there are only a few ways out: injury, death, being forced to stop, or walking away while you still can.It took more than a decade before I started seeing names I didn’t know after I quit.

April 8Apr 8 No words, just mood.....Cavatina on a classical guitar.A few years after it was written and performed, Michael Cimino chose to use it as the theme to The Deer Hunter.

April 9Apr 9 I’ve already posted my Saddest Song - Ode to Billy Jo. But I have another one I’d like to share. Red River ValleySong byGene AutryFrom this valley they say you are goingI will miss your bright eyes and sweet smileFor they say you are taking the sunshineThat has brightened our path for a whileDo you think of the valley you're leavingOh how lonely, how sad it will be.Do you think of the fond heart you're breakingAnd the grief you are causing to meFor a long time my dear I've been waitingFor the words that you never would sayAnd alas my poor heart you are breakingFor they tell me you're going awayAs you go to your home by the oceanMay you never forget those sweet hoursThat we spent in the Red River ValleyAnd the love we exchanged mid the flowers.Come and sit by my side if you love meDo not hasten to bid me adieuBut remember the Red River ValleyAnd the cowboy who loved you so trueSongwriters: Traditional, George A. Tipton. For non-commercial use only.
April 9Apr 9 One of the songs from my teens, could not stay, could not leave thing, and today I smile of it. Good memories after all. No idea how she end up in her life.
April 9Apr 9 Another one that hit hard once back in the past, and pushed the buttons. Not sure it is the artists self, but it made a long lasting impression, and I remember the song today after all these years.
April 9Apr 9 In My Life, Judy Collins, and Leo Kottke, A Tiny Island. Both songs have meant something to me in the past.
April 9Apr 9 Author oldie from the 70s i remember massive hit for Nielson, Without You. but written by a Rock band called Bad finger.

April 30Apr 30 He stopped, loving her today by George Jones is usually considered to be the saddest country song ever written. So therefore, it probably is the saddest song ever written. Why did she stop loving him today?Because they are shoveling dirt on his lifeless face.
