Youtuber anti-Thailand Rants

But he's not a digital nomad.

He's been living in Thailand 20 years I think, married.

And it looks like all the negatives of Thailand have caused him to become bitter -- no property rights, no permanent residency, 90 day reports, and increased cost of living.

This rant he claims Thailand is no longer a bargain and the prices will keep going up.

No country is as cheap as it was 20 yrs ago. Flights leave everyday, he's free to go elsewhere.

The video talks about western food not Thai food. People who prefer western food probably should choose a different country as only Thai food is cheap.

When was a night out B500? I've been here since '99 and don't remember that.

He needs to realize that the world has changed int he past 20 years. Also, the COVID years resulted in brutal inflation.

He claims a Bangkok night out went from 500 baht to 2500 baht without explaining those prices. It is a really poor video full of misinformation. Dinner and show would have cost a couple 3000 baht before or a nightclub experience anything from 1000 to 3000 baht. One of the worst videos I've ever seen.

Go to basic restaurant then walk along the street markets, then go home.

Yeah, that's still B500

Siam Niramit dinner and show looks to be a similar price to twenty years ago. Typical Youtuber talking crap to fill content.

I have been saying even 10 years ago that Thailand is more expensive for a westerner than back home. Probably doesn't apply to Americans and their ripoff healthcare.

Me and wife spend about 2,500 cad in canada. The same life in bangkok would cost us 150,000 baht.

Breakdown

Condo fees $500

Property tax 160

Insurance $40

2 phone lines with unlimited internet $200

Wife's public transport cost $100

Since I kicked wife to work and me being a stay and home hubby she eats out most of the time. By her own words she prefers food in canada instead of Thai slop. Total food cost around $1,500 a month.

Zero health insurance and dental costs. Big refund check this year because of small earnings. Thank you Canada for take care ❤️

Did i forget extremely clean air?

It totally depends on your lifestyle and where in Thailand you live. Some products are much cheaper, some are the same, some are more expensive. I got a haircut for 80 baht in another city but in Bangkok they wanted 300 baht. Some tablets I bought were half price outside Bangkok. I found that soy milk is cheap and higher protein content. Restaurant on the beach very cheap meals.

Yea, I like living in big cities because of access to everything, especially airports in case things go titz up

For anyone medical is "free" for most anyone without significant assets. The hospital has to treat you, and they can't take you home, your car, your 401K, your Roth, your Social Security or your pensions.

The poor in the US get free heath care.

Free heat for the elderly poor I take it.

In Bangkok I went to 3 different pharmacies side by side. Two had the same prices while the other had half price for what I wanted. You really have to shop around to get good prices.

What is the point? If planes don't have fuel?

I am 52, I get no benefits. I also have too much savings, so I wouldn't even qualify.

Heat electricity and air-conditioning is included in my condo fees.

I live in Bangkok, have two homes, a kid at university, a car, self-insure my medical in Thailand, pay Medicare part B in the US and still spend less than my social security each month.

We live on ~$1000 USD / ฿30,000 a month, and includes everything. 5 ish minutes from the surf, 10 ish minutes to rolling hills.

Don't want for nothing, eat great, and play tourist 2-3 months a year, staying in hotels, racking up 17k kms a year with the EV.

And it's never frigid cold. Both retired, no need to work, and wife gets near free healthcare.

I'm pretty sure I'd need more the 2500 CAD to live in CA, and definitely would not enjoy the cold weather.

No way could I live in a condo, or have my wife working, with me home all day. Prefer to be with her all the time in my remaining years.

Agree, different strokes for different folks, but it's too easy and inexpensive for us to live here, with the lifestyle we enjoy.

According the internet Chumphon is 50% cheaper for living than Chiang Mai and 100% cheaper than Bangkok.

I can't afford a house in Toronto, it's 2 million.

Condo is walking distance to everything. Hospitals, beautiful lake, city airport, central station, grocery stores.... but yes, I would like to have a music studio for example which is impossible to do in a condo.

Having a woman 24/7 with you yapping? No thanks

I like Toronto, but not into cities, too much congestion. I need a house with a bit of garden and nature around me.

How large is your condo ? We have a small house, only 130m², but that's the size we want & needed. Couldn't deal with smaller, and don't want larger. We did large before, and it's a bit much, just keeping it clean.

Bangkok is very polluted though. You have to go south of Hua Hin to escape it. The area between Hua Hin and Surat Thani is very underrated. Low pollution, low development and low prices.

How can he have lived in Thailand for 20 years and still pronounce the currency as BAT rather than BAHT?
