There has not been a more humiliating defeat in US history since the Vietnam War.

Today is a good day getting better by the minute but should have bought the dips. To go with the Tacos.... chicken ones with a side of gloat.

For some, like Haaretz’s military affairs correspondent Amos Harel, failure was baked in to Netanyahu’s war plans. “Many of the weaknesses shared by the current US administration and Israel’s system under Netanyahu came into view: a tendency to gamble based on unfounded wishful thinking, shallow and half-baked plans, disregard for experts, or the aggressive use of pressure to make them align their views with the wishes of the political leadership,” Harel said.

It will be clear to Israelis, too, that the conflict that has unfolded over the past month was a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to conduct a campaign at this scale with full US backing. Other flare-ups may occur but the chance of such sustained hostilities repeating seems remote.

Trump balked at the point of most dangerous escalation including over the question of deploying ground troops, hugely unpopular in the US among voters in part because of the extreme cost, and highly damaging to the global economy.

Trump threatens 50 percent tariffs on Iran arms supplies. His legal path is murky.

President Donald Trump on Wednesday threatened 50 percent tariffs on any country that supplies military weapons to Iran, though it’s not clear he has the legal authority to do so.

While the president previously wielded tariffs to pressure other countries to bend to his will, the Supreme Court in February took away the main legal justification — a 1977 emergency law — he had used to slap those levies on countries at will.

The tariff tools he has left at his disposal are more limited and cumbersome, requiring more specific justifications and more thorough investigations before tariffs can be imposed.

The US didn't agree to any of Iran's 10 points! The US holds all the cards. Iran now has no AirForce, no Navy, no communications, no radar, their economy is in a shambles. Iran pledged to open the strait, agreed to no Nuclear Uranium Enrichment, to give up their Nuclear Dust. Because of that, the USA agreed to a 2 week ceasefire. All US military previously deployed to the area is still there. If they don't negotiate favorably to the 15 point USA plan, by the end of the 2 week ceasefire. They will lose all Electric Power, all Bridges, and possibly Kharg Island will be either flattened of taken over by the USA. That's the truth!

Trump demanded that the Strait of Hormuz be reopened or he would bomb Iran back to the Stone Age. That was his sine qua non. So, has Iran reopened the Strait?

Iran Shuts Hormuz As Israel Strikes Lebanon With 100 Missiles, Killing 250

Less than 24 hours after US President Donald Trump announced a ceasefire with Iran, the Islamic Republic has closed the Strait of Hormuz in response to Israeli attacks on Lebanon, the Associated Press reported, citing local media.

The US and Iran announced a two-week ceasefire early Wednesday, as part of which Iran agreed to re-open the Strait of Hormuz, potentially restoring global energy supplies. However, the Israeli military launched more than 100 air strikes within a 10-minute window in Lebanon.

And even before that:

Iran Tightens Its Grip on Hormuz Despite Cease-Fire

Trump demanded opening the strait. Tehran’s Revolutionary Guard is limiting ship traffic and charging tolls

Iran told mediators it would limit the number of ships crossing the Strait of Hormuz to around a dozen a day and charge tolls under the cease-fire struck by President Trump, showing Tehran plans to tighten its grip on the world’s most important energy-shipping lane.

Ships that pass will have to coordinate with the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps, the powerful paramilitary group that has been labeled a terrorist organization by the U.S. and the European Union, Arab mediators said.

Four ships were allowed to pass Wednesday, the fewest so far in April, according S&P Global Market Intelligence.

So, if controlling the passage of ships through the state of Hormuz isn't a card that Iran is holding, and you don't think that it is, since you claimed that "The US holds all the cards" how exactly would you characterize it?

The USA cannot protect the Strait of Hormuz. There are no American warships in the Strait for a very good reason - they would be sitting ducks. Geography wins.

If the USA goes after the electricity grid, that will be a war crime. The US military would be quite within its rights to refuse such an order.

Mostly spin, half-truths, and partisan cope from a known Trump-hating echo chamber podcasts.happyscribe.com.

Trump: "basically agreed to Iran's 10-point plan"? False and a massive exaggeration. Iran did float a 10-point proposal (maximalist stuff like: full lifting of all sanctions, US withdrawal of all forces from the region, "acceptance of enrichment," reparations/compensation, continued Iranian control/regulation of the Strait of Hormuz with possible tolls, end to attacks on Iran + proxies, and a binding UN resolution). Trump publicly called a version of it "a workable basis on which to negotiate" and said "almost all of the various points of past contention have been agreed to" already, but only as a starting framework for the next two weeks of talks (not acceptance of their full demands). He explicitly clarified on Truth Social that only one set of points is acceptable to the US, fake public versions are "fraud," and details will be hammered out privately. Iran is spinning this as "total victory" and "America forced to accept our plan." That's propaganda, not the deal.

You always want to give the enemy a way out. His advisers would be looking at options. The main issue is the oil transport now.

Isn't finding terrorism a war crime now? Iran has done that since 1989.

Trump already did give them a way out in the form of an ultimatum. It was open the Strait of Hormuz or else it will be the death of Iranian civilization. Remember? Is there now another "else" out there? What would that be? Constructing a new pipeline over the next couple of days?
