Filipinos seeking new passports are experiencing delays of up to 15 working days, following disruptions in the electronic passport printing supply chain linked to the Middle East crisis. The Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) announced that applications submitted since late March are subject to these extended processing times, which will persist "until further notice."

The problem stems from complications involving the DFA's third-party service provider, responsible for ePassport printing. Although the crisis' specific effects on passport production were not detailed, efforts are underway to resolve the interruptions and return to standard processing times quickly. This challenge arises as the demand for international travel documents remains strong, leaving many applicants in a state of uncertainty.

Without clear information on the number of affected individuals or precise reasons for the supply chain issues, the DFA advises those in need of urgent passport services to contact them via designated email addresses. This situation underscores the broad and often unpredictable impacts of geopolitical events on routine governmental functions.

Looking forward, the DFA aims to resolve these delays expeditiously through collaboration with their service providers. Until a solution is implemented, affected individuals should anticipate possible disruptions in travel plans. Regular updates will likely be provided as progress is made.
