Cambodia’s Royal Palace has confirmed that King Norodom Sihamoni is recovering in Beijing following successful surgery for prostate cancer.

The statement, issued on Monday, said the King underwent the operation in the morning and left the operating room the same day. He remains under close supervision by medical specialists, who have advised him to stay in hospital for further monitoring.

Queen Mother Norodom Monineath joined the King in expressing gratitude to senior monks, national leaders and the Cambodian people for their prayers and well‑wishes. The announcement follows the King’s disclosure earlier this month that he had been diagnosed with prostate cancer during a medical examination in Beijing.

Former Prime Minister Hun Sen, accompanied by his sons Hun Many and Hun Manith, visited the King at Beijing Hospital. Hun Sen later posted on Facebook that the surgery had been successful and thanked Chinese President Xi Jinping for his concern, as well as the doctors involved.

Messages of support have also come from foreign embassies in Phnom Penh, including the United States, Germany, France, Canada and Japan, all wishing the monarch a swift recovery.

King Sihamoni, 72, has reigned since 2004 and is widely respected for his role as a unifying figure in Cambodia’s constitutional monarchy. His health has long been a matter of public interest, with the Palace regularly issuing updates to reassure citizens.

For now, officials say the King’s condition is stable, though he will remain in Beijing until doctors are satisfied with his progress.

ThaiVisa, it's also in French

Weird how rich people don't bother with local doctors. I guess ordinary people deserve second rate heath care.
