US Embassy Bangkok Orders Visa Applicants to Make Social Media Public

Featured Replies

My response to that request would be this: 🖕

Take your visa and shove it where the sun don't shine!

Who in their right mind wants to go and live and work there anyway? Only 2 weeks paid holidays per year, health insurance is exorbitantly expensive, pay is sh.t, lots of mass shootings, lots of woke BS, the US has only 4% of the world’s population, but 63 or 68% of the world’s serial killers, lots of genetically modified food, I mean half the ingredients that are in their food are not allowed in the EU, lots of crime in general and a sh.load of homeless people, rent is ridiculous and so are annual property taxes.

The days when the US were the dream are long gone now.

Lots to like as well, but the negatives outweigh the positives by a mile in my book. So, thanks, but no thanks.

My advice is to just boycott the USA entirely (if you can) until it someday emerges from it's maga fascist hellscape phase (if ever).

Just wanted to add to the text in your post above which I've highlighted... it might be worse than that...

So, this means that I must divulge my ThaiVisa profile info to the US Embassy, now?

Lots better places to go than the US especially in light of the goons currently running things there now,

Sadly it's not just the goons. They are just a symptom of the rot that has set in.

Most are in fact elected. And many of them then select their teams. There were deliberate efforts made to lower militia standards to allow pardoned 'Proud Boys' who were in jail for 06.01. to 'protect the county's borders' on city streets. They didn't even deal with the actual insurrectionist felon. Brazil showed them. South Korea showed them. The US was incapable.

Somalis don't eat the dogs to quote the liar in chief's blatant racist slur - which got him elected! But politically the US has clearly gone to the dogs. And they're rabid.

I am definately not going to allow myself to be harassed and humiliated by any country making such a fuss during a visa application. Be it America or Thailand or anyplace else. I'll just look elsewhere that is more foreigner friendly and respectful to give them my money.

Even China doesn't require this.

The USA is a laughing stock.

Seems many forget about the patriot act and the things that Snowden showed the world. Which have been happening for over 2 decades already under various different presidents.

That's what happens when you only have 2 choices

... one you can actually understand what he says, and answers questions

... the other, talks for an hour, and hadn't said anything, except she's open to have that conversation

So the voter has to decide, if they are happy with the way things are, and want to stay on that path, or want to change, to someone, they have a ball park idea, since president already, what his plan for the future may be.

They've spoken with their vote ... deal with it.

They get to decide again in 2.5 yrs. In a half year, they can limit what he & party does by voting again. System has worked for couple hundred years. Stop crying.

The power can shift every 2 years, so people have some kind of control if unhappy. Voters should be concerned about the people they keep reelecting, not the ones with little power and gone in 4 yrs time.

On topic (as always), simply start an online account, don't post stupid, anti USA crap, and don't tell embassy of real accounts you use.

I don't have any online presence in my real name, except banking. and one email account. Which I don't use anywhere, except on the USA banking/investment account & Thai bank & Imm.

This was all true before we got the antipresident.

Do you have to disclose your AN account ?🤣

If so, then many forum members will be denied entry... based on simple scrutiny of their mental state...

Oh wait! they are already in the USA - they live there lol!!

Yeah! If you ever get the chance to compare the ingredients of an American product in the US with the same product also sold in the EU, do it! It's an eye opener!

In 3 years, when these goons are gone, maaaybe.

Not only Thai's are requested to show their SM

You have to understand that this is a marketing action for the FIFA World Cup and the Olympic Games 2028 in LA

It's not enough to increase underground rates in NYC for the final from now 9-10 USD to 100 USD👏

Thank god I'm not having my wife apply to visit the US - her Facebook account would bore the poor US State Department operatives to tears.

It makes me laugh how the MAGA cultists always say that there's no freedom in Europe, you can get locked up for mean tweets yada yada yada.

Projection is admission.

And yet, as a European, I must sadly admit that freedom is becoming an increasingly elusive concept there, whilst the ‘imported’ population is now free to demonstrate as much as they like, the original inhabitants are having the screws tightened on them through endless layers of control.

I’m very glad to be out of there; it’s getting worse by the day.

And last but not least: Population replacement – that is what is happening in Europe.

50% fake what is being proclaimed, and certain items have been around for over 60 years; in this case, imitation crab – as for wasabi, there are large farms in Japan that produce perfect wasabi.

Well, I guess a little reciprocity is long overdue. Thai immigration and government are far-right nationalists etc., fair play to make it the same the other way round... can't have it both ways. Reciprocity in immigration rules should be universal.

There are millions of Thais taking advantge of soft western liberal immigration policies and naturalisation opportunities... but here in Thailand its might as well be North Korea, not okay.

I have empty devices in case I ever have to go.

It isn't only the 'goons'. Don't forget that more than 77,000,000 voted for Trump, a convicted felon, a six-time bankrupt etc etc etc as the person they wanted to represent the USA. The problem there is far, far deeper than him and his mafia gang.

I agree 100%, but it's unlikely that today's administration will survive the election in 2.5 years, as I see it.

I saw the latest poll, the lowest ever for any president, 37% think this administration is doing a good job.

I know, it's still way too many, but I can't see how they can survive this. The damage to the country is just too severe, and it most likely will be even worse, god forbid.

At the February 2025 Munich Security Conference, U.S. Vice President JD Vance criticized European nations for restricting free speech, warning it is in retreat due to government overreach and censorship of opposing views. He condemned European "buffer zone" laws, social media crackdowns, and actions against right-wing voices as threats to democracy.

Hypocrisy anyone?

Sadly what you say about the damage being done to this country is absolutely true. And the scary part is that conditions are worsening by the day. This administration behaves like an aggressive cancer that can only be stopped by major surgery.

You can. US citizens can go to a Democratic party rally and give Nazi salutes. Cant do that in Europe. You will get arrested.

So your idea of projection is wrong.

A very legitimate question. In case you have to disclose your AN account some of us may end up in Guantanamo for further questioning.

Without a solid work history, money in the bank for years, long term assets (not tiny village homes) or for that matter only one big asset, the applicant will probably be denied. How many of you have wifes would meet these requirements. Most of my ex partners wouldn't even come close.

Trigger alert!

My GF (Cambodian), also lives in Thailand. Has variously only 100-200k THB in her Thai account. Some land in Cambodia (village) and no job. Applied for U.S. visa in Bangkok online in February. The interview officer asked for no documents and few questions. U.S. visitor Visa was granted within 10 minutes and passport with visa sticker mailed by EMS in a few days. We enterered the USA together, from Bangkok, via Seoul, on 6th April 2026 with no hassle. Customs officer only wanted to hear our plans and itinerary for the 8 days and to see our confirmed return/onward tickets. Second time, and second visa to enter the USA in last 9 months. No problems at all. On the social media topic, even though she was only applying for a B1/B2 visa, she had declared her Facebook and TikTok accounts with public access - few SE Asians ever make them private or restricted anyway. She likes Trump and never posts politically so no issue there anyway (although maybe not all customs officers might like Trump). God bless America! We had a great time and met some great long time friends and lovely other people. Can't wait until next trip.

Not condoning anything from officials but I have seen many calls for violence and even the death of the president over the last couple years on here ...quite a number of times.

Do you think this will affect sex tourists adversely, with lots of Thai h**kers on their friends list?

Unless you financially "vouched" for her massively, I consider this comment as "bovine droppings" also known as B*ll<deleted>. You know as well as the rest of the wold that the US does not welcome "uneducated" migrants.

The fact that she loves Trump should serve you as as a "red flag". Trump will be gone 3 years from now. So will your wife , with all her current convcictions.

Actually, her love of Trump is a positive feature. We would both vote Trump if we were able! We are happy to stump up the $15k deposit/bond for future visists. God bless America! #Triggered555
