August 25, 200718 yr I want to book BKK to London in mid April, one way. Firstly, are there any decent websites that do online bookings? Most seem to concentrate on departures from London, not Bangkok. Anyone got any suggestions on when to book? Is it better to do it now or wait until nearly the time? Is it generally better to do it yourself, or through an agent? Cheers

August 26, 200718 yr The usual culprits fit the bill. In no particular order. Emirates Etihad Gulf Air SAS Kuwait BA - unbelievably yes as they now price flights each way so you can see the price. have not done O/W but seems possible. Turkish Then all the crap, air bin this, air bin that etc.
August 26, 200718 yr if you book NOW for April NEXT YEAR, then you wont be able to get any good Promo-Fare. wait at least until the end of the year. the other question is, WHEN exactly do you want to fly ? during Songkhran period 11-17th of April ? Well, then good luck and book ahead early. otherwise: WAIT and see. and buy ur daily BANGKOK POST, as there are PLENTY of ticket offers (including one-ways) to be found in the advertisement section every day.... examples for reasonable one-way-fares to London: Sri Lankan Gulf Air Kuwait Air (nothing for the faint hearted, though, but always the cheapest) Pakistan Airlines (low safety standards, though!) Biman Bangladesh (same as Pakistan Air) bit more expensive: Qatar Air Brunei AIR (sometimes amazing deals) or u can book a very cheap one-way ticket with the infamous LTU (German sardine-can-airline with almost no service on board and pay for ur beers, extremely strict luggage-rules, though the safety standards are excellent) to Duesseldorf for as low as 13.000 including taxes, and then book a cheap one-way with one of the excellent budget airlines in Europe (Germanwings, TuiFly, Easyjet, AirBerlin a.s.o., though I dont know without doing further research which ones operate out of DUS)

SAS is one of the most expensive airlines in the world. I dont think you would be able to find a one-way for less than 25.000 incl. Taxes, and then u still would have to transit in Scandinavia.... where as, for example, Royal Brunei flies nonstop during summer season.

LTU FROM BKK has daytime flite, and varies its German port: Dusseldorf, Munchen or (new) Berlin. Also its seats are not that much worse as most of the other quoted airlines. Yes, you pay for any alco, but softdrinks come free and are served as you like and often, and its included meals are actually a tiny bit better as those you pay for on RYan/EZ or the like. (at Least FROm BKK, as they come from the Thai kitchen). But in general: for singles FROm BKK/Thaild it is VERY unwise to book online ot even to realle expect that: the old-style agent in an office has certainly the better deals, in that low-season fares from 15/16.000/all-in are very easy to get even at very short notice

I did a search and LTU came in at quite a bit cheaper than the others, with a transfer from Duessldorf (I think) to Heathrow, with reasonable turnaround times. It was about 20k THB, and that was slap in the middle of new year, which I had forgotten about!
