Authorities in Hanoi have imposed fines on several popular eateries, including Dookki, Laboong Milk Tea, and Han Kim Chi, for various food safety violations. The infractions, which range from poor hygiene to improper waste handling, have led to penalties between VND1.5 million to VND12 million. This crackdown underscores the city's commitment to maintaining high food safety standards following recent breaches.

The People's Committees across various wards in Hanoi released lists naming establishments that violated food safety regulations during inspections in March and April. Among those fined, Dookki's branch at Vincom Pham Ngoc Thach was charged VND8 million for stagnant and uncovered wastewater systems. Additionally, Han Kim Chi faced a VND4 million penalty for using substandard food containers, while Laboong Milk Tea was fined the same amount for lacking hygienic waste containers.

Vuon Bia eatery incurred the steepest penalty of VND12 million due to multiple violations, including insect presence in the food preparation area and clogged drainage systems. Another food outlet received a VND1.5 million fine for having employees handle food without gloves. Authorities identified common issues such as deteriorating sanitation infrastructure and unsafe food handling practices.

These findings follow heightened scrutiny after a bun rieu restaurant was suspended in March following complaints from a tourist. The widespread breaches prompted officials to enhance inspections and enforce penalties based on violation severity.

Looking ahead, Hanoi’s authorities aim to continue rigorous inspections to prevent similar violations. Establishments are urged to comply with food safety regulations to avoid penalties and ensure consumer safety.
