Well, let’s see…. Not a single citation, so basically just your guesses.

You seem to think the people in Vanuatu are less bored than the people in American Samoa. Have you ANY proof of this?

Perhaps you should stick to politics.

Can you prove otherwise?

Why Boredom Leads to Overeating

  • The Dopamine Search: Boredom is essentially a low-dopamine state. Eating is one of the fastest ways to stimulate the brain’s reward centers (the nucleus accumbens), providing a temporary "escape" from the feeling of emptiness.

  • Mindless Consumption: Boredom often occurs during "passive" activities like watching TV or scrolling through a phone. This leads to mindless eating, where you lose track of internal fullness cues because your attention is elsewhere.

  • Sensory Seeking: Research shows that when people are bored, they are significantly more likely to choose "exciting" foods (highly flavored or crunchy) to provide a sensory distraction from their environment.

While BMI isn’t a reliable index of good health, there’s no doubt that a BMI of 24 is a lot better than a BMI of 30.

I’d love to see the BMI for the AN members. I have a feeling it would put a stop to a lot of posts.

Studies found 25 to 30 bmi people live the longest.

several large-scale studies and meta-analyses have suggested that carryng a small amount of extra weight may actually be protective, especially as people age.

The Science Behind the "Overweight" Advantage

  • Nutritional Reserves: A slightly higher BMI provides a "metabolic buffer." During serious illness, infections, or surgeries, the body requires significant energy to recover. Those with a BMI of 25–30 often have more reserves to draw upon compared to those at the lower end of the "normal" scale.

  • The Age Factor: For individuals over the age of 65, the correlation between a higher BMI and longevity is much stronger. In older populations, being "underweight" is a much higher risk factor for mortality than being slightly "overweight."

  • Wasting Diseases: Higher body mass can be protective against "wasting" conditions like osteoporosis or sarcopenia (muscle loss), which significantly impact quality of life and longevity in later years.

Typical.

You use AI, present its one comment, and decide that this is the whole story, and base your comments on it.

We’ve seen this same behavior in Washington

"Does anyone really care how fat other people are ???"

Yes some do.

Get a fat-hater started and you will learn that fat people are responsible for most of the world's ills.

I'm sure we will get some of them chiming in on this thread.

With some of the fat-haters I wonder if we need to say:

"Show us on the doll where the fat man touched you Scooter."

Thanks for posting the map. Looking at the numbers on the map, the op is apparently full of it with 40% or whatever it was. Because the map shows low 30s and twenties, so how do you average 40%

Many health experts now consider the waist-to-height ratio (WHtR) to be a superior screening tool compared to BMI because it accounts for where fat is stored. While BMI measures total mass, WHtR focuses on central adiposity—the fat around your midsection and vital organs.

The "Half Your Height" Rule

The general scientific consensus for a healthy waist-to-height ratio is to keep your waist circumference to less than half your height.

42.5% obese in the US is disgusting. It's no wonder healthcare constitutes 18% of US GDP. We all pay in higher insurance costs, because fatties often do not carry their own weight. Actuarial tables reflect the odds that any given policy holder will get obese and suffer all the health consequences of that self-inflicted malady.

Did you know that the obesity rate was 15% in the 1970s and began to increase in the 1980s after the Reagan tax cuts? We can address obesity by reverting to pre-Reagan tax brackets.

Everyone does flying in economy, even fat people.

Senseless as usual.

I don't know where the bar is set by the operators of this site to meet the standard of value in terms of a comment, but seeing that your seemingly pointless and valueless comment is still here, I have some idea of the benchmark.

If my comment on discipline and the fact obesity is not a function of political ideology is "senseless", just consider I'm posting for people like you, who never make any sense whatsoever, and are just captured by a fanatic cult, unable to think clearly, nor even think for oneself at all. Maybe Fox or Newsmax can help you compose a response to this.

Or tall people. I am 195cm. I was ok flying in economy when I was young, but I promised myself that once I turn 50 it will be business for long flights. No compromise.... and that is how I fly now.

Business when a bulkhead isn’t available, I really don’t care because it’s usually only 12 hours.

You were the one that came here picking a fight. The other poster was just giving an answer from a personal perspective. You are in the wellness section and you should probably take advantage of the opportunity to better your state of mind instead hurdling attacks toward specific individuals because you look like stalking troll here.
