Judge vows case ‘will be heard’ despite fresh legal complications

A High Court judge has insisted that the civil rape and sexual assault case against Andrew Tate will proceed “as soon as possible” despite a new delay caused by the reopening of a police investigation into the allegations.

The controversial influencer — who has built a massive online following through provocative and often inflammatory content — is being sued by four women who accuse him of rape, assault, and coercive behaviour dating back more than a decade.

Civil trial pushed back after police move

The case had been due to go to trial in June, but proceedings were adjourned after Hertfordshire Constabulary reopened its criminal investigation into allegations reportedly linked to events between 2014 and 2015.

Police are now reviewing extensive digital evidence, including more than a million messages, videos, and photographs recovered from electronic devices.

Lawyers for Tate argued the civil proceedings should be paused for a full year, claiming that ongoing litigation could prejudice any future criminal prosecution. But Mrs Justice Lambert rejected that request, saying Tate’s legal team had failed to demonstrate a “real risk of serious prejudice.”

Instead, the judge opted for a shorter adjournment while demanding police act with “urgency.”

Allegations include rape, threats, and violence

The women accuse Tate of multiple acts of sexual violence between 2013 and 2015 in areas including Luton and Hitchin. Among the allegations are claims that he strangled one claimant repeatedly, pointed a gun in her face, and assaulted another with a belt.

Tate has consistently denied all accusations. In written submissions to the court, he reportedly described the allegations as “gross fabrications” and a “pack of lies.”

No criminal convictions have been secured against him in relation to the claims.

Growing legal pressure across multiple countries

The UK civil case is only one front in a widening web of legal battles surrounding Tate. He continues to face investigations and proceedings across several jurisdictions, including Romania, the United Kingdom, and the United States.

The former kickboxer has become one of the internet’s most polarising figures — praised by supporters as anti-establishment and condemned by critics as a promoter of misogyny and toxic masculinity.

Claimants say justice delayed for years

Lawyers representing the women argued the latest delay prolongs an already exhausting wait for accountability.

Matthew Jury, acting for the claimants, said the women had already endured “more than a decade of waiting for justice” and accused authorities of repeatedly failing them.

The reopening of the police investigation itself has intensified scrutiny of how the original complaints were handled. Independent Office for Police Conduct is currently examining the conduct of the earlier inquiry.

Trial date remains uncertain

The court is expected to receive a further update from police in July, which could determine when the civil trial is finally rescheduled.

For now, the case remains stuck between civil litigation and the possibility of renewed criminal proceedings — extending the legal uncertainty surrounding one of the most controversial online personalities of recent years.

But despite the delay, the judge’s message was clear: the case is not going away.
