Trying to find a reasonably priced Guinness in Bangkok?

Yes.

This is my question.

I think it's way overpriced.

A bottle of LEO costs about Bt.55

And, a drought beer does not even require a bottle.

I would like to try a Guiness, but I want to pay a fair price, about Bt.60 per pint.

You really don't know much about this gg do you.

That is 1000 baht all up. 4 beers from 7/11 is 200 baht plus 50 baht meal. Save 750 baht!

Paddy Reillys 650 baht free flow Guinness for 2 hours (if you buy a roast dinner).

Can't beat it. Best pint of Guinness I have had in Bangkok too

They know you will get full on the roast dinner

I would get twated on as much Guinness as I could possibly consume without touching the roast until its cold

I prefer Asahi or Beerlao. Guiness is too heavy to really enjoy and 300 baht is a lot. These fake Irish bars are not Thai culture or Asian culture. The food is slop and the beers all overpriced. English brown ales are better if you want a UK beer. More drinkable.

So you think the plastic paddy bars are the only places that do Guinness.?

Another post which makes me miss home more. You can get a Guinness not too far from here, but I'd much rather drink one in an Irish or English pub, like back home had. Wine drinker but loved a good beer, and Guinness is definitely one of the better ones.

Asahi is Japanese beer made here. Beerlao is OK. I personally love a pint of the black stuff, ice cold.

You mention these 'fake Irish bars' not part of Thai culture. What about all the Thai restaurants in UK, and other countries, all charging way over the top for what is stir-fried cheapo food?

Thailand has Irish Pubs in the big cities.

I know, but it isn't the same as drinking in one back home.

No different except 5000km away. When you get back home after 12 months you will miss Thailand.

Really? Are these the Fake Plastic ones you mentioned earlier serving 'slop'. Tell that to the Management of say Hemingways in Pattaya where they serve excellent food.

The biggest problem most bars cheating when pouring, and the best location in mind is at Koh Phangan a back street close to the pier, that lady knew how to pour a pint!

Can't say I had a decent poured pint of Guinness in Bangkok yet. Even you tell them, they just nod and do not give a F.

Silom shenigans have not been bad, but depended how many people and if you know the staff or not.

Much different as it's home. I will miss some of Thailand but will be back home where we belong. The US has everything Thailand has and much more.

Fun fact. Every single Thai women that likes to drink a bit finds Guinness truly revolting. I was lucky to get laid after such dates. Most prefer Thai beers, some even like Budweiser.

But not the black slop.

Not true. My wife likes Guinness and always has done since she first tasted it. It's not her favourite drink (she prefers wine) but she's certainly not averse to it.

He certainly doesn't know that they cannot produce beer when there is a drought. 555

How would you know the difference?

When did you last (if ever) visit a Dublin bar and experience such a pint!

Hi Bangkok people. I started tracking Guinness prices, happy hours and pub locations across Bangkok after realizing a few lovely pints can quickly empty the wallet. Someone had to do it, so I built a small tracker for anyone hunting for a decent-value Guinness: guinnessthailand.com

Hopefully others find it useful. Let me know if places are missing, prices have changed, or where you’ve had an absolute creamer!

Can you include rest of Thailand?

Or get batted on the Guinness for 2 hours then ask for the roast dinner to be boxed up as a takeaway. Heat it up in the microwave once you've staggered home. Won't matter much what it tastes like - you'll be half pi$$ed.

Decades ago when visiting Dublin, my Thai wife tried her first Guinness in a Dublin Hotel bar. One sip and it was clear to all she hated it. The waiter immediately noticed and came by and offered to mix some juice in it (I think it was blackcurrant juice). As revolting (to me) as this sounds, my wife went for the idea and she then did not mind the taste!! She liked the mix. I was shocked and I definitely was not going to 'destroy' my pint of Guinness with any juice. That mixing juice into one's Guinness (to me) was sacrilege.

...anyway, roll forward decades later, to today, and my wife can now drink Guinness with out any juice,... although she (in an Irish pub) much prefers a Kilkenny beer (or in the case of an Irish pub in Thailand one of the local Thai beers).

There are some places in Phuket that offer Guinness on tap, but typically it means a 30minute car drive for me to get to any such place from where I live. What I found interesting is MANY 7/11s in Kuala Lumpur have canned Guinness for sale. Yet I challenge anyone to find a canned Guinness in a 7/11 in Thailand for sale.

Not a 7 but I saw 440 ml cans in a cafe/bar type place up in the Nakhon for 280 thb. 440 I think is an American measure.

Yeah, hoping to track Pattaya and Phuket next!

Brewdog in Soi Buakhao, Pattayai is possibly still doing happy hour Guinness at 199 a pint.

Exchange rates are so confusing.

Far better if we didn't need to always be calculating exchange rates.

This way, we could do price comparisons far more easily.

The exchange rate malaysian ringgit to the pound is approx 5.30. Something like eight times less than sterling/baht.

And for the record it is spelt Guinness.

To show a total lack of knowledge on two subjects in one post is some going.

It is still a rip off at 260 to 300 a pint. It tastes like heavy coke. Coke is 20 baht.

Is there a mong of the year award on.here. Just asking.

I am posting at this hour due to something similar to insomnia or sleep apnea. Bit of a pain.
