Checkmate In Iran

So the situation in the gulf is that Iran is winning, and they're winning by not being defeated. Unless we suddenly get a regime change in Tehran (extremely unlikely in the short to medium term) the US is gonna come out of this as a loser, and as opposed to other wars and battles (Pearl Harbour, Vietnam, Iraq etc) it lost but ultimately recovered and grew stronger from, that won't happen this time.

The damage is permanent.

"Defeat in the present confrontation with Iran will be of an entirely different character. It can neither be repaired nor ignored, there will be no return to the status quo ante, no ultimate American triumph that will undo or overcome the harm done. The Strait of Hormuz will not be “open,” as it once was,and with control of the strait, Iran emerges as the key player in the region and one of the key players in the world. The roles of China and Russia, as Iran’s allies, are strengthened; the role of the United States, substantially diminished."

According to the constitution, yes. But since he's already tried to instigate a coup once, and is actively trying to rig the midterms, there is no way he'll leave office in the normal fashion.

Iran did not loose the conflict, same terror regime that no one wants is in control. Stronger than before. Russia gets rich because of it. What a winning streak does Trump see here?

Absolutely disgusting <deleted> interview by CBS, run by self proclaimed "Zionist fanatic" Bari Weiss, of wanted war criminal Benjamin Netanyahu.

They didn't ask a single question about the ICC arrest warrant for Netanyahu for war crimes and crimes against humanity. They didn't ask a single question about Israel's secret stash of nuclear weapons. They let Netanyahu ridiculously claim Israel has the "most discriminating military on the planet in history" without any push-back.

They let Netanyahu falsely claim that Israel's beeper attacks in Lebanon had "no collateral damage." They had very little to say about Israel's well-documented human rights abuses in Gaza.

He just sat there with his arrogant smirk saying no boots on the ground by Israelis. That has to be done by the US.

So the Iranians sent Trump a counter-proposal they knew he would not accept, because every day that goes by is a day closer to the midterms, and every day brings about higher gas prices, higher prices on fertilizers, higher prizes, period. And this means an increasingly weaker Trump, which means a stronger hand for Iran.

Iran knows perfectly well that peace will require concessions on both sides. The difference is that their concessions will be small, and his will be enormous.

It's gonna be interesting to see what happens when he finds that out. One thing's for sure, it won't be pretty.😂

Trump calls Iran response to US proposal to end war 'tota...

Iran is reported to want lifting of the US naval blockade, recognition of Iranian sovereignty over the Strait of Hormuz and compensation for war damage.

""There's still enrichment sites that have to be dismantled," Netanyahu said in an interview on CBS's 60 Minutes show.

According to Iranian state media, Tehran's proposal includes a demand for compensation for war damage and an emphasis on Iranian sovereignty over the Strait of Hormuz.

On Sunday, Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian did not directly reference Tehran's proposal but said: "We will never bow our heads before the enemy, and if talk of dialogue or negotiation arises, it does not mean surrender or retreat.""

It is showing the world 2 things.

First, that America is far from not a major superpower as acclaimed.

Second, million dollar missiles, multimillion dollar jets, are not match for cheap home made drones. The major european powers would need to reconsider their military gear orientations. But we also all know the big bucks involved in defense budgets. Much fuss is made plainly to sell military hardware (usually from America).

Who are the loosers in this context at the end of the day ?

But well done Israel in having drawn in America and part of the world, in their war and their belligerent situation.

Yes, Trump will coverup or dismiss anything that does not meet his agenda, whatever it happens to be at the moment, or that exposes his numerous lies.

When even Fox news begins to be critical of Trump, all that's left is for Trump to praise himself.

In an Oval Office Q&A on 11 May, Trump called the closure of the Strait of Hormuz "genius", because now people are buying (much higher price oil) from Texas. "It's kind of amazing".

Apparently, causing a 60% jump is oil prices for all 8.5 billion humans, along with declining supply of natural gas, fertilizer and even helium, that benefits a few sellers in Texas, is "genius".

Food prices are rising for everyone on the planet due to an absence of fertilizer and higher farm-to-market transport costs. The cost of all shipped goods is rising because of energy price rises. Chip manufacturing is being hit by the absence of sufficient amounts of helium. MRIs are being put on hold also due to declining supplies of helium. Airline flights are being cancelled, and two airlines (Spirit and Air Antilles) have gone bust recently because of Jet A prices and lack of availability.

All of that is just more proof of Trump's "genius".

Yes, the entire world stands in awe.

That is a stunning summary of the damage the Iranians inflicted on heavily defended US bases that were supposedly the Gulf States’ insurance policy in the event of attack. The Potemkin nature of a great deal of that deterrence has now been cruelly exposed by medieval mullahs armed with a degree of sophistication and cheap technology.

It is increasingly looking as though the bloated US military-industrial complex is neither fit for purpose nor remotely cost-effective in the era of drones and cheap tech, where enormously expensive systems struggle to defeat comparatively low-cost threats.

And make no mistake: the US and Israel have suffered one of their biggest strategic setbacks of the modern era, with Trump and Netanyahu emerging as the hapless architects of a revelation that may fundamentally alter perceptions of Western military supremacy. Inshallah.

The blowhards seem to have gone quite on that front. I wonder why ?

A war that didn't need to happen that blew up the myth of US/Israeli regional hegemonic dominance. Well done Iran for standing up to the global bullies and taking the pain now they should be left alone to develop their nukes in peace and the rest of the world to get along with their lawful business.

What's so lawful about sponsoring Hamas, Hezbollah, Houthis , and others?

I'm going to speculate on how the war ends.....

Trump travels to China. The Chinese privately introduce a peace proposal to Iran, and promise that if Iran agrees to it, China will help them in their quest for a nuke.

China will not tell Trump the nuke part, but instead offer him (his sons) major business deals in China, if Trump agrees to whatever proposal China offers to end the war.

China comes out looking like the hero at a time when the US is losing what few friends and allies it has remaining.

Why not invite the Iranian President to the USA and talk about it peacefully over pizza etc instead of this fighting

If Isarel/US stopped harrasing Iran they woudn't have had to cultivate proxies to try and ensure regime survival. It's chicken and egg and besides it's just a cruder form of what the US has traditionally done with its allies in the past South Amercian/Asian dictators meddling with coups and the like. Sauce for the goose and all that.

FOX NEWS ALERT: “Sources confirm to Fox News’ Bret Baier that forces from the United Arab Emirates are carrying out military strikes inside Iran,” says John Roberts. “The UAE forces are directly engaged with the Islamic Republic and have been for several days.” “This comes after Iran launched dozens of missiles and drones at the UAE during the conflict.”

And that would render the whole Gulf uninhabitable since Iran would go scorched earth and destroy the desalination plants and oil/gas production infrastructure.

Game over.

and the looser is trying by any and all means to avoid speaking about the costs of his stupid war with Iran and hide it from the US tax payers, what a looser that can't make a deal and just makes threats after threats, the Iranians already know how to deal with him and just answer back using the same type of language and now they are make threats as well and he's trying to lower the gas taxes something Biden did and was criticized for but if Trump does it it's ok, no criticism

President Donald Trump on Monday said that he supported suspending the federal gas tax as Americans are struggling to make ends meet with higher costs due to the war in Iran.

Trump, 79, went from insisting the war would be over soon to backing a move to temporarily alleviate the increased prices at the pump, as little progress is being made to end the conflict.

It’s a proposal that was also floated when gas prices were high under President Joe Biden, but the move was “dead on arrival” with Republicans in Congress.

In reality, suspending the federal gas tax to give Americans relief from higher prices is a pitch straight out of the Biden playbook from when gas prices were up during his term.

Yeah, I know you and trump said weeks ago that Iran was defeated and their military capabilities were basically eradicated.

However, the last 5 weeks have shown your assessment to be utterly and idiotically wrong.

Hopefully, you've learned from your past mistakes!thumbsup

https://www.timesofisrael.com/liveblog_entry/report-iran-still-able-to-access-around-70-of-its-pre-war-missile-stocks-60-of-launchers/

"US intelligence assessments have suggested that Iran likely still has access to around 70 percent of its pre-war ballistic missile stockpiles, and around 60 percent of its missile launchers, The New York Times reports. It also still retains around 40% of its drone arsenal, the report says, citing US intelligence and military officials.

According to the Times, when a two-week ceasefire came into effect between Iran and the US on April 8, Tehran had access to around half of its ballistic missile launchers. Since then, the report says it has managed to dig out another 100 launchers from under the ground, bringing the total of operational missile launchers to around 60% of the pre-war total."
