Now I'll tell you about something that is actually gay. Watching Olympics men's gymnastics and diving. Don't get me started with Greco-Roman wrestling.

Where are the Eurovision fans hiding?

UK entry is fun and I bet some spicy pepperoni that it'll be good for at least one vote.

Second semifinal done.

There's an "American" this year, a Morman girl who grew up in Salt Lake CIty and is the youngest entrant. Very talented.

France is automatically in the finals.

I'd love to see France win. They usually have quality entrants. But probably won't happen.

Look out for Aussie Delta Bit of Celine Dion in there .. Making news in Australia now but not my cup of tea

Yeah she's a contender for sure.

There are so many good acts that will split the jury vote that it seems to me that its quite unpredictable who will win.

UK won't though. Ha ha.

Of course it will be a big drama to see if Israel dominates the televote..

I think the silent majority, did not appreciate him having to fight the yelling which I hear was from a man in a dress.

Their entry is good enough to win.

The finale

I only ever bother to watch the last hour to see the votes come in. " And for the United Kingdom - Nil points"

It's a combination of being absolutely <deleted>e and the rest of Europe hating us 555.

We've got an absolute retard representing us this year. A complete embarrassment.

Who's your money on @Jingthing ?

If you can access BBC iPlayer it is worth watching via that medium just for the pithy commentary from Graham Norton. Almost as good as when Terry Wogan used to do it.

I didn't have any winner predictions this time although I kind of felt maybe Australia.

I'm surprised that Greece didn't do better.

I thought Israel would be in it at the end, but probably wouldn't win so I was right about that.

Bulgaria was really off my radar.

As far as the final results, I think they are very good. Why?

Israel's song was actually better last year, they deserved to win last year but not this year. But Austria was equally deserving and did win.

If Israel had won this year, the whole boycott thing would have become nuclear because Israel would have wanted to host next year.

Also Austrian JJ last year's winner has been very vocal in his opposition to Israel being in the contest, so would he have even have handed off the trophy to israel or thrown it instead?

Then there is homophobia.

Bulgaria is a very homophobic country.

The contest will be in Bulgaria next year and a large portion of the people who actually attend the contests are gay.

That's going to be a good learning experience for Bulgaria.

Don't tell me Eurovision isn't political. Everyone knows that's BS.

So UK got one point! Better than zero.

Finland

And I had actually Bulgaria as an outsider.

Norway got lost in voice problems and the stage show became distasteful

I watched many of the contestants on YouTube. My sisters like it back in the UK.

It can be political, but is it really taken that seriously?

Most are average & some are just plain weird.

I thought Sweden, Finland & Australia weren't bad, and the UK was the worst.

It's just a bit of fun.

Did Greece give Cyprus 10 points and vice versa......

The UK entry was dismal, one point (from Ukraine)

Eurovion started in 1956. The many former fans probably got tired of the music and artists.

Personally haven't watched eurovision music contest since the 90's.

Much better music available for download. I def love music, but eurovision isn't it.

For the few remaining fans.

I believe so but it's 12 not 10 points.

No, not just a few fans.

I contest is a major global event and in recent years it has even become popular in the U.S.

In fact, it's so popular that is has now expanded to Eurovision Asia which will start this year in Bangkok.

Assuming that Eurovision Asia eventually attractd participation by China, Japan, and Indonesia, it will then become an even much bigger event than original Eurovision.

I do have to agree it isn't the greatest source of the "best" music per se. Eurovision style acts have become a specific genre in many or most cases.

I heard the Bulgaria win described as a shock. Perhaps so but to me it was more of a surprise than a shock. I had noticed it as a catchy tune but hadn't taken it seriously. First of all they won the jury vote which I definitely wouldn't have predicted and that of course set them up for overtaking Israel at the last minute in the televote. It was clear that this was a year that was "wide open" so in that sense it shouldn't be a shock that an act like Bulgaria won. Many other countries could have won. As opposed to years where there is one song that is clearly the heavy favorite and the one to beat, there was no such obvious song this year. Australia's performance could have been that but the song choice was too boring and safe.

Israel, Denmark and Finland was the top songs this year, and I seriously thought Denmark would had won.

Israel is Judged politically and would had won last year and this if not!

Israel's song this year was very good and good enough to win (as were a number of others) but to be honest and fair the "political" part actually favors Israel in Eurovision more than it hurts them. Why? Yes it is true that the Israeli government views Israeli success in Eurovision as an important aspect of their soft power and they invest in that and it makes a difference. I have nothing against nations using soft power. I wish the USA under maga fascist Trump hadn't abandoned that. But some of tactics by Israel to pump up their Eurovision televote are certainly questionable at best.

Also very sad to say IF Israel had won this year (not sure about last year but maybe also) that may have killed off Eurovision entirely (as Israel would be entitled to host next time). So I consider second place finishes as a positive thing. Maybe Israel will be allowed to stay in Eurovision, and Eurovision will survive at least for now. Also love or hate Israel or Israel in Eurovision, the oveall quality of Israel's entrants over the years have been quite high. It would be a loss for the contest to lose that.

A bit like 2022 when Sam Ryder for the UK was clearly the winner (officially finished 2nd) but the political/sympathy vote was given to the Ukraine.

UK are normally pretty bad (last night for instance) but Sam Ryder was (and is) pretty good. His 2022 song 'Space Man' got to number 2 in the UK charts and also charted in 13 other countries.

UK are always ignored by the majority of the European entries as they are still bitter and twisted that UK had the balls to leave the Eurozone (that combined with our songs being crap 555).

You maybe right, so not going to argue, and I thought Denmark was the bedt song this year, but I favored Finland. Delta was good to, but to much Celine in a way
