Outrage Grows As Teen Rapists Escape Immediate Jail

Pressure is mounting on the government to overturn the sentences handed to three teenage boys convicted of raping two girls in Hampshire after harrowing victim statements revealed the devastating impact of the attacks.

The boys — two aged 15 and one aged 14 — avoided immediate custody despite being convicted of 11 rapes between them following attacks in Fordingbridge during 2024 and 2025.

The case is now being urgently reviewed by the attorney general under the Unduly Lenient Sentence scheme after widespread public anger.

Victim Said She Wanted To Die

Prosecutor Jodie Mittel KC told the court that videos of the first rape were shared online, leading to cruel jokes being made about the victim.

The girl also received abusive messages calling her a “slag.”

In a statement read in court — screened from the boys’ view — the victim shared a poem she had written following the attack.

“All I want to do is die, I no longer have fear for when that comes,” one line said.

A second victim described suffering nightmares and struggling to sleep after the assaults.

“I feel ashamed, insecure and uncomfortable in my own body,” her statement read.

Jess Phillips Blasts Social Media Culture

Former safeguarding minister Jess Phillips said the case reflected a growing crisis among young boys fuelled by social media and violent online content.

Phillips said rehabilitation remained important but argued offenders could still be rehabilitated “within our youth estate.”

“The truth is for about 10 years we have allowed young people, especially young boys, to be experimented on by social media companies,” she said.

She added that too little had been done to examine the impact violent pornography was having on children and teenagers.

“The victims in this case have paid the price,” she warned.

How The Sentence Review Works

Under the Unduly Lenient Sentence scheme, members of the public can ask the attorney general to review sentences they believe are too low.

If government law officers decide the punishment falls outside normal expectations, the case can be referred to the Court of Appeal.

Senior judges would then decide whether the sentence should be increased, taking into account sentencing guidelines and the specific details of the case.

Phillips has invited the girls’ families to contact her directly if they want support in challenging the outcome.

Police And CPS In Discussions

Detective Sergeant Naomi Stocker said Hampshire Police was liaising with the Crown Prosecution Service over the sentences handed down.

The boys were convicted after trial at Southampton Crown Court but were given youth rehabilitation orders instead of immediate detention.

Victims Describe Horror After Attacks Filmed And Shared

Outrage is mounting after three teenage boys convicted of raping two girls in Hampshire avoided jail — with the victims describing devastating trauma, humiliation and suicidal thoughts after footage of the attacks was shared online.

The boys, aged 14 and 15, were handed youth rehabilitation orders instead of custodial sentences despite being convicted of 11 rapes between them at Southampton Crown Court.

Prosecutor Jodie Mittel told the court videos of the first attack were circulated online, sparking cruel taunts against the victim.

The girl later received abusive messages calling her a “slag” while others mocked her ordeal.

Speaking from behind a screen during sentencing, the victim read out a poem detailing the psychological destruction caused by the attack.

“One line,” the court heard, said: “All I want to do is die, I no longer have fear for when that comes.”

The second victim described suffering nightmares, insomnia and deep shame following the assaults.

“I feel ashamed, insecure and uncomfortable in my own body,” her statement said.

Political Backlash Grows Over ‘Unduly Lenient’ Punishment

The sentences have sparked fierce criticism from politicians and campaigners, with calls for the case to be reviewed under the Unduly Lenient Sentence scheme.

Jess Phillips, the former safeguarding minister, said the punishment appeared “unduly lenient” and warned the case exposed a growing crisis among young boys influenced by online misogyny and violent content.

She accused social media companies of allowing children to be “experimented on” for years without serious safeguards.

“The victims in this case have paid the price,” she said.

Under the review system, the attorney general can refer sentences to the Court of Appeal if they are judged excessively soft compared to sentencing guidelines.

Phillips has also invited the girls’ families to contact her directly if they want support challenging the outcome.

Police And CPS Reviewing Outcome

Naomi Stocker of Hampshire Police confirmed officers are working with the Crown Prosecution Service following the controversial ruling.

Judge Nicholas Rowland previously defended his decision not to jail the boys, saying he wanted to avoid “criminalising” such “very young” offenders — despite acknowledging the crimes were extremely serious and made worse by the filming of the assaults.

Adult prison, custodial sentence should sort them out. 3 boys, 11 rapes!

Note to racists: These were proper British lads.

Nobody has any answers about fixing misogyny--women as chattel property.

Who are "the boys" and who do they know? Rape is not a sex crime, it is a crime of violence and intimidation. It is often a racial hate crime as well.

Judge Nicholas Rowland?

I wonder if he is the same Nick Rowland I met last year in Bangkok?

No they were not proper British lads. They were "Travelers". Basically Irish gypsies who inter marry, hence the reference to low intelligence. Proper English lads have an education and don't live in trailers parked at squats.

You must be a better sleuth than I. I have been unable to find even the boys' names. If they are Roma, in the UK they are quite likely British, meaning they have the same school requirements as any other Brit. All you are saying is that Roma are trailer trash.

I was, of course, meaning to throw the stink off immigrants. I did not realise there was still racism against Gypsies since they were put into Hitler's camps.

The victims must be devastated ,no justice doled out ,BUT I am

sure the lads won't do it again ,🙄

regards worgeordie

It is not about being a better sleuth, but about knowing some basics about the UK, and then verifying facts before commenting. Do read the The Education Act 1996 Section 444(6) in particular the sections that remove the obligations to attend school. For example;

(6) If it is proved that the child has no fixed abode, subsections (3B), (3D) and (4)] shall not apply, but it is a defence for the parent to prove;

(a)that he is engaged in a trade or business of such a nature as to require him to travel from place to place,

(b)that the child has attended at a school as a registered pupil as regularly as the nature of that trade or business permits, and

(c)if the child has attained the age of six, that he has made at least 200 attendances during the period of 12 months ending with the date on which the proceedings were instituted.

The Traveller community relies on sections like the above to avoid the schooling duty.

Traveller communities are comprised of diverse groups including Romany Gypsies, Irish Travellers, and more recent Roma migrants. The UK has a problem with genetic impairment and mental defect due to inbreeding. In the UK, there are two distinct groups who engage in the practice; Pakistani/Bengalis and Irish Travellers. Certain diaspora communities have extremely high rates of first-cousin marriage, with a rate of 20% to 40% among Irish Travellers and higher rates still among the British Pakistani community.

Marrying a first cousin or other closely related people often results in discernible cognitive limitation or impairment. It is not racist to state established fact. The Traveller community lifestyle is not conducive to children's education because the community moves from squat to squat, rarely staying in one spot more than a few months. As per the UK advocacy group Centre for Crime and Justice Studies, Romany, Gypsy and Irish Traveller (RGT) only comprise an estimated 0.1 per cent of the UK population, yet 5% of people in prison identify as RGT. The population is characterized by illiteracy and reduced cognitive ability. This results in their not being able to have employment and when they are incarcerated because of their criminal activity, Travellers suffer unequal hardship in prison because of poor levels of literacy, and mental illness.........

The Judge's comments about limited intelligence was a polite recognition that the 3 were mental deficients. In the era of political correctness, we can no longer use accurate terms and must instead use polite euphemisms. In 1975, the 3 defendants would have probably been called "retards".

Edited by Patong2021

Patong, thank you for your thorough explanation. I know little of these people except that Hitler liked to exterminate them. How did you find out the boys were Travellers.

I wonder how many of those 5% in prison are convicted rapists. In your opinion, is there a solution to this. (I never had a cousin.)

Pornsites, IMV, are responsible for a lot of the misogyny and rape in society, esp for young and unformed minds, unable to discriminate fantasy from reality.

Bear in mind, I would never advocate censorship, be content ever do foul. I like zoophilia first. Necrophilia is harder to find. Either would have been a better alternative for those boys.
