This is what you, and many other do not realise. There are NO ATM machines before Immigration, so you cannot get the extra Bht 10000 you MAY need. It MUST be in cash. Proof of bank deposits, credit cards etc are NOT acceptable

I know, a stupid rule but TIT.

Does one need proof of financial stability when entering UK, USA or other countries?

In many cases they deport people for the 20k rule and don't even ask them if they have it

OP has continually said he visits Thailand twice a year with his wife. His wife is Thai also. And he, seriously doesn't know how much they will need for a 2 week holiday. Seriously? No accommodation

Or his wife can pay for everything with her $65/hour wage. Did you hear that!?!? SIXTY FIVE DOLLARS……per hour!!!!! His wife makes $65 dollars per hour. One hour. Sixty five Australian Dollars.

Wrong, I lived in Thailand for many years and travel to Thailand twice a year

How much do you usually bring?

Don't talk silly. They refuse entry to undesireable looking people, and use the 20k rule as an excuse.

Obviously the traveller does not know that rule or he would whip his cash out and say 'here you are, 20k THB'.

In the 20 years I have been coming here, I have never been asked, so I must look desireable! 555

Sorry, but I cannot find a post from you with the word 'undesireable' in it.

Maybe because there's no middle finger up emoji.

You could produce or download one yourself and then attach it to your reply.

See how long that would be allowed. 555

No problems with that

How could being refused entry present 'no problems' ?

Please explain this strange post, thanks.

OK, I got a Thumbs Down, but no explanation as to what the post meant.

I gave you a thumbs down for crying about getting a thumbs down.

It was the non-reason which made me 'cry' about it. If I am going to be critisized I like to know why.

As you can see from my previous posts, I am one for disposing of the emojis, encourage people who answer others put it in words, not simply click on an icon. Noticeable when a member asks several questions in one post, and get a thumbs down, or up, or like, or thanks, for just part of that post.

Because they pushed on a button to make you feel bad.

You aren’t going to need much dosh at all. In fact, bring as little as possible and just grab a copy of Susan Harris Bignok’s bestselling guidebook, How to Live Like a Baller in Thailand on 50 Baht a Day. Once you read that gem, you’ll never again lose sleep over paying an extra 10 baht for noodles or getting ripped off for an added 20 baht on a room with a fan and a shared toilet.

Seriously?

No accommodation costs and airfares paid for.

I mean, how hard is it?

For him? Extremely hard!

What's that about your 23 year old wife got to do with it /S

Has anyone on this site ever been asked to show 20K when entering Thailand?
