My favourite is Arabica dark French roast, the french means it isn't bitter. For my 4 cup moka pot i use 11.5 grams, more or less coffee and more or less water changes the taste as does the grind, so

How does everyone you switched onto it get their hand carried from Canada? Impractical as general advice don't you think?

Do bear in mind the idea of mixing up beans, different roasts, grades, etc. If you begin experimenting be sure to keep a record of measurements so you'll know what to duplicate, or avoid.

I've been experimenting with different coffee beans, and I tried this stuff. Too bitter for me. Maybe tomorrow I'll try grinding less coffee to make a full pot of 12 cups.

Any other suggestions?

How many cups of coffee do you make from a 12 cup moka pot? bare in mine my 4 cup seems perfect, 3 cup a little small.

my 4 cup yields about 175g of coffee, is a 12 cup 525g? that's alot, maybe good for 3 cups of coffee?

No sugar and no milk or other addetives. Black coffe only, and the Aro bought at Makro above, I use one scoop less than I normally would use for the volume of water. I have not measured coffe in grams for a long time now, but use a standard drip coffe scoop as measurement.

I have also become a bit more lazy by the years now, and low my Mocca Master drip machine. Gives less of the bad stuff when filtered through a proper paper filter.

They also say that the right temp is a bit below boiling. Apparently 90C to 96C is the sweet spot. The higher tems extract more of the bitter stuff. I use a french press and generally wait a bit after the water boils to let it cool down before adding it to the press.

The coffee maker says 12 cups, although the coffee mugs I use each hold more than a "cup."

This morning I ground up only half as many beans as I used yesterday, and the result was better for me. I'll have to experiment around with it, as I usually end up throwing half a pot away, depending.

If ever drinking black, I like to put half a teaspoon of brown sugar over the crema and watch it slowly submerge, very satisfying.....

Nowt as queer as some folks.....LOL

The Moccamaster is famous for simple and reliable coffee brewing. Of course, coffee perfectionists may not be especially impressed, but for most people it makes a good cup without too much fuss.

I loved my AeroPress when I was always travelling. One good cup in the morning was enough, with the right beans, grind, and mix. Hand-ground, of course.

I have become a bit less strict lately, and it shows. When you skip one routine, it is easy to start skipping other routines too. The flow from the morning is often what keeps the day strong.

A bit philosophical maybe, but also very practical.

Fun and oddities aside........... the time sugar takes to sink past the crema is used as one of the barometers of a coffee's quality and preparation...

This is the press I use. Stainless steel, insulated. Drink right from the press. Convenient if you don't add sugar/milk. They messed up the lid on the latest version by removing the screen on the lid. The new ones that have a screw down lid can develop a bubble that apparently the screen prevented. You get a mouthful of very hot coffee when the bubble pops.shopping (1).webp

If you want perfection, you also find the right mug or cup to drink from, because the material, shape, rim, and heat retention can change how the coffee tastes. And that is probably why many older people often have the same favourite cup. It gives them the familiar taste they have become used to. Same as a beer glass or wine glass can make a quite different experience too. Small details maybe, but if you care about taste, those details matter.

I buy from a coffee aggregator in Chiang Rai. I pay ฿600 per kilo for Grade A Arabica, Medium Roast. It’s excellent.

Sounds good. Arabica med roast is my first choice. Always good to have a backup source. Does he/she deliver? Contact info?

No delivery, I have to collect and it takes 2 or 3 days from order to be able to collect.

Can you get K-Pods and the Kuerig Coffee makers in Thailand?? I have never seen any, had to donate my Kuerig coffee makers before I left US.

Spoiler Alert - I got hookd on 7/11 coffee working nights in a Wharehouse, in USA - came to Thailand and find their coffee is actually pretty good, but I am just getting settled, so my coffee bar will definately undergo some adjustment - it can be 40C outside and I can drink hot coffee. Visiting Vietnam now, their coffee if totally organic by law - and quite affordable - I am sure to carry some back to Thailand next month.

1kg bags aren't great, taste will deteriorate over time

Not if stored properly.

How? once opened air gets in, everytime you open again new air goes in. Makes sense for a coffee shop to buy big bags because they use quickly
