Video 1 makes a compelling case. The facts presented are established and irrefutable. It does have one weakness in that it does not acknowledge that the problems associated with foreigners have reached a level that required a response. The fact that the wrongdoing has been long established should not be used as an excuse to allow it to continue. However, he makes a reasonable conclusion.

Mr. Hart's rebuttal is short on facts and heavy on "conspiracy". He makes the conclusion that Thailand just wants foreigners to abide by their visa laws. Yes and no. Thailand also wants foreigners to accept the unfair practices and discrimination. He does make the valid point that too many foreigners have unreasonable demands and expectations. Unfortunately, his claim of a conspiracy involving the Thai Central Bank, the IMF and foreign financial interests is not supported by any factual evidence. His claim that Thailand's economic position is "fine" is not supported by the economic data. Thailand, like most other countries is on the cusp of a financial adjustment. He is lashing out at "Europeans" and "foreigners" without any evidence and reciting the Thai canard of "colonialization". He is not a practicing attorney in Thailand and should perhaps stick to selling chicken wings, burgers and hotdogs at his Bangkok restaurant.

3rd Video is a wham, bam, bye bye production that sends the Bangkok youtuber- restaurant owner packing. He says, exactly what I was thinking as I watched the video.

It will not be good news for any foreigners living in Thailand if espousing anti foreigner sentiment becomes politically advantageous, as it has elsewhere in the world.

The Government’s anti immigrant rhetoric will eventually seep into wider society and there are signs it has already done so.

The more important question: has anyone tried the pancakes?

Aside from the debate about the reasons for the "crackdown" changes, it's worth noting that it's not our imagination that this "crackdown" has really happened in many aspects.

This video highlights something that really should shock people. People who have been here for 10, 20, 30 years and convicted of a crime with at least 30 days sentence (presumably a minor crime if just 30 days), you're kicked out and out fast.

Should f-rangs be afraid of Thai law? Seems a rational reaction to me.

Sure the smug Thai-ier than thou crowd might say, well I would never ever commit even a minor crime in Thailand so those that do deserve this. How can you be so sure? How do you know if enforcement might change on something that you're doing already and don't consider it a problem?

I wouldn't travel to Bangkok for pancakes but if I was there I would try them. It's hard to get decent American style pancakes in Thailand. Some recent places I've tried have been obscenely over-sugared.

I am unsure of this one. ‘Talks of Thailand’ has put out some videos recently about the condo and housing situation/market , and I find his content quite informative and well researched.

‘Integrity Legal’ is generally quite balanced, although he often descends into rants against the IMF and the Covid Shutdown debacle - his 2 big pet hates.

Everyone seems to have their own barrow to push.

I just live here, try not to make waves, and ‘don’t think too much’ !

Discussed this a few days with a friend, he asked around and concluded the law had not changed. I’m more cautious.

As you say nobody can be sure they would not get caught up in this, anyone, and there are many, who drinks alcohol and drives certainly can’t be sure.

Both Tops and Villa have the US Betty Crocker/Bisquick pancake mix. You can make them at home and add blueberries.

The Australian sourced Woolworth's brand has 16g of sugar vs the 2 g in the Betty Crocker. I made one earlier this week. With some smoked ham, it was rather tasty. Villa has real maple syrup. I would be surprised if Mr. Conspiracy's diner serves real maple syrup.

Thanks.

Restaurants often offer maple syrup as an add on.

What signs would they be?

Isn't everything in Thailand?

I'm not sure that either side of this "battle royale" is the kind of thing that can be objectively provable without leaked internal memos from the Thai government which we'll never see.

I do think however that on the subject of debate skills, the cheeky youtuber has an edge.

As this stuff has happened and the real life effects will have some expats reeling, I think it's normal and natural for there to be this kind of debate.

A follow-up video that isn't specifically a rebuttal to the American lawyer, but does clearly refer to him in more subtle ways.

Aside from the battle royale I think he's making some really good points.

It certainly is a different experience here now.

The pizza is the dead giveaway.

Good policy. I just wish most of these Y Tubers would follow you and make ripples instead of waves. There seem to be thousands of foreign YT channels here now, with many awful ones containing repetitive rubbish. They don't care what damage they might cause to people who just want a quiet life here.
