Featured Replies

Both My Nord and Surfshark VPNs and also some others i use are now not connecting with UK or USA over last 9 days ,, I have asked NORD VPN support and they say that nothing is wrong but Surfshark have told me that True, and AIS have been throttling all vpns recently ... Is this true because i am having problems using some sites based in UK and USa that rely on VPN,, I was in Singapore 2 days ago and and both NORD and Surfshark connected to Vpns in USA, EU and UK no problem ?????

I haven't noticed any issues with Surfshark. I have 2 PCs connected 24/7, one with VPN connected to UK and the other to Singapore. 3BB/AIS is my broadband fibre provider.

  • If you or your family still have a home in the UK with a TV/internet provider, you may consider hosting your own private VPN server as small as a matchbox. This is what I have. Watching geoblocked TV

I've no problem connecting to the US via Nord. Using Triple T as a service provider.

I use VPNs to get TV content mostly , and movies downloads ,, also for cricket ,, and hopefully for feeds for the 2026 world cup .... also VPN for some banking and UK websites that are blocked in thailand ....

I was using KODI for sports but its now heavily edited and many of the seeds for sport content is policed and disabled especially football .. FIFA will be busy selling all their ripoff friends TV channels and BBC are able to block UK VPNs on their i player , they have a dedicated team assigned . HO HUM

I am assuming both VPN accounts are paid up.

Uninstall both VPN apps. Restart your device/s. Install one of the VPN apps and try to connect. If connects, restart device/s and install the other VPN app and try to connect. If connects, restart the device/s and carry on as normal.

If the above fails, look at resetting your network adapter/s, which is not a scary thing. You'll just need to reconnect to your WiFi and enter your password again.

If you or your family still have a home in the UK with a TV/internet provider, you may consider hosting your own private VPN server as small as a matchbox. This is what I have. Watching geoblocked TV content, e..g. UEFA champions league and FIFA world cup.

Your vpn logs are private. You can choose the most efficient and not easily spoofed protocols like VLESS Reality, Wireguard and Tailscale.
My providers have been AIS, True, 3BB and dtac. Never had any issues.
With the help of someone in your home country and Gemini chat anyone with a bit of technical skills can install their own vpn server.

If you're interested, just let me know. Then I'll give you more hints how to start.

Yes that's what I do raspberry Pi

with Pi VPN installed on it

The only slight problem is that server site has to have a 'proper'

public ip address not a CGNAT ip,

There are work arounds for CGNAT but it will involve further expense and technical headaches as well as possible privacy issues with a 3rd party relay server.

Yes it depends on your provider. I wonder what is the % of clients in the UK having CGNAT and no public IPv6 address. Less than 5%?

Nord VPN actually have such a function in MeshNet. Not that I have a great deal of trust in them.

If it's a half decent router, one can VPN back to it. No need for other hardware. I VPN back to my router in my house in Australia.

A friend or family member can email through the Config' File. Wireguard is the best protocol.

If the router doesn't have a VPN feature, a small travel router connected to it is probably easier to set up than a Pi.

I have AIS fiber and NordVpn. No problem.

Works fine here with NT.

I use ExpressVPN everyday with True as my cellular provider to listen to USA San Francisco radio and have not had any issues at all. I also use the ExpVPN APP in my Apple TV to watch all my USA subscriptions on 3BB internet (now AIS) also no issues.

My NORD works perfectly to get UK TV here.

Did NORD not quit Meshnet a while back?

Isn't it strange that the BBC and others spend millions making programes that they then spend more money on to prevent you from watching them. With millions of expats around the world they could make a fortune letting people subscribe to them but no, that's too 21st century. So instead that money goes to the IPTV 'pirates' to give people what they want to see, or people use torrents to download product. All money lost to the tv companies.

Way back, the same situation existed with music. Napster put music on-line and eventually the record companies caught up and provided their own download service at a modest price. Tv still lives in the dark ages.

I think they changed their minds about getting rid of it, hence the link I was able to post...

VPNs to get TV content

Amazon prime and Netflix know if you are using a VPN.

A VPN may hide your content from your Chinese Huawei spy router but you can't hide the fact that you're using a VPN to the content providers.

Please advise 😀

I had the problem with Surfshark for a couple of days whilst in HK (on my notebook ) using local hi speed fibre optical cable ,wifi .

So, it came up saying something like " we're experiencing a technical issue and ( you) can't connect to our server".

Finally uninstalled the app, downloaded it again, reinstalled it, connected LAN cable direct, and all working fine now.

300+ days left of the subscription ...

I use StreamVPN to connect to the UK via True. I've had no problem connecting, so I don't know Surfshark get their info from.

I use Nord and AIS without any issues. Have you tried turning off your router for 20 seconds? Sometimes a firmware update has not been installed properly.

I"m using True with Nord and not having a problem.

Not always they don't, in fact, for me, using Surfshark, it hardly ever gets detected by either of them. But you often have to use the 'Static IP' selection, not the roaming IP.
