I can watch I player now using my Nord VPN,, had to use obfuscated servers in UK to do it ,, However on BBC Radio 5 Live still cannot get past the Geoblock with any VPN to listen to test match special , It is also Blocked on Live Radio App .....

Of interest BBC also regional geoblock inside UK on live football matches they stream on Local radio stations Live , if you are in London you can listen to Live matches from Tottenham, Arsenal and Chelsea but Not from Manchester etc ,, and vis a versa ,, when im in UK I live in Gloucestershire and try to listen to Brighton playing as its where I was born ,, but If I tune to radio Sussex I am Blocked and they actually tell you its a local geoblock ,,,,,barmy

Have you tried a third party app? Something like the below. They don't geo-block.

I have several Apps like that but they can be geoblocked by BBC , I will try radio Light , I have found non BBC alternatives that are good

No, they can't be. For example, say I make an app and call it "BBC Radio For Everyone" and pump the digital BBC Radio broadcasts through it from a residence in the UK, the BBC can not geo-block this. This is how all the IPTV sports streams in many of the sports bars in Thailand work.

The BBC just see a stream going to my IP address. They do not know that I am then rebroadcasting out to the world.

Perhaps look for a better app.

It's never been blocked for the past idk, 8 years. Sometimes the provider has had issues, but they admitted it when I contacted them on chat and normal service was returned within a couple of days.

They know who is using a VPN to access the service, I can watch and download ITV, channel 5 is blocked for me, C4 is not available on my appleTV but I can watch, I can DL that stream but its encrypted. I see no evidence of BBC actively blocking VPN access, they could follow the other channels but dont.

PIA is based in the USA, who are one of "The 5 Eyes." Not so great for privacy.

Yes they can geoblock the live radio on internet radio broadcasts in UK of live sports events if you are not in local area , Many people complain about it ,, and i have experience this many times in UK ....

No, they can't.

There seems to be a misunderstanding.

Put simply, I am talking about using a third party app. The people running that app stream it to their residence in the UK. From there, they rebroadcast (upload) it out to the world, unbeknown to the company, Eg: Sky.

It's illegal, whether for payment, or no payment, but it can not be geo-blocked by the provider. (Sky)

All they can see is a customer streaming a match to a residence in the UK via their IP address. They have no idea that stream is being sent out to millions of different IP addresses, all around the world. It's been going on for years.

Here's a couple of Brit's that were stupid enough to be doing it within Thailand and got arrested. No geo-blocking.

I could post some links to a few IPTV providers but it probably breaks forum rules. Google for it. There are hundreds. They also have radio stations. Some boast access to over 15000 channels from all around the world.

Simply saying, if a government authority wants to know what you a doing on that VPN, the company will give you up, because it falls under US jurisdiction.

As for Express VPN, well, their top people were CIA and US military operatives, and Express VPN was spying on users for the UAE government. Just the type of VPN you DO NOT want.

Yes, I understand - I seriously doubt that the any government is interested in my logs for BBC iplayer and polymarket crypto bets.

It is the kind of VPN I want, because it connects to iplayer without any issues.

If one could continue to stream BBC iplayer, as well as pick up complete privacy, for the same money, or less, with possibly faster speed, and more features, who wouldn't take that deal?

Some people have their whole network (house) on a VPN that is configured in their router. The reason is, privacy. They don't want anyone to know what they are looking at, or doing, on the internet, not just on one device. In this case, they would VPN to the nearest server in the UK, for the best speed, but despite physically being in the UK, the BBC sees a VPN being used and can / will block the stream.

But to watch terrestrial TV abroad, you need VPN connected to UK, in the UK?

That's not watching terrestrial TV, that's streaming from their app.

One signal comes through the TV antenna, which physically has to be in the UK, and within the range of a tower, the other signal comes through a fiber optic cable, and with a decent VPN, can be viewed from anywhere in the world, or, through a third party IPTV app, without a VPN.
