US President Donald Trump stated on June 5 that Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy and Russian leader Vladimir Putin should now "sort it out" themselves regarding the ongoing Russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine.

Speaking to reporters at the White House, Trump addressed recent diplomatic developments, including Zelenskyy’s open letter to the Kremlin proposing a direct meeting between the two leaders.

When asked if he preferred that the two presidents hold talks without American mediation, Trump expressed his approval of a direct dialogue. "I’m not against it. I mean, let them sort it out themselves. I’m the one who brought them to this situation, and I think it will all work out," the US president said.
