Trump Tells Iran and Israel to 'Stop Shooting' After Strikes

Featured Replies

U.S. President Donald Trump on Monday called on Iran and Israel to immediately stop attacking each other after a ceasefire appeared to unravel following a fresh exchange of strikes.

In a post on Truth Social, Trump said both sides must stop “shooting” without delay.

Iran Launches Missiles After Israeli Strikes

The appeal came after Iran launched missiles at Israel on Sunday night, marking the first direct exchange of attacks since a U.S.-backed ceasefire took effect in April. Tehran said the missile strike was carried out in response to Israeli attacks on Hezbollah targets in Lebanon earlier the same day.

Despite Trump's public call for restraint, Israel responded with its own strikes in the early hours of Monday morning.

Ceasefire Faces Renewed Pressure

According to reports, Trump had urged Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu not to retaliate against Iran. However, Israel proceeded with military action, raising concerns that the ceasefire agreement could collapse.

The renewed hostilities marked the first direct military exchange between Iran and Israel in more than two months and highlighted the fragility of efforts to prevent a wider regional conflict.

Iran Says It Will Halt Strikes Unless Israel Attacks Again

Get today's headlines by email image.png

Iran has announced that it will stop carrying out strikes against Israel after the two countries exchanged fire for the first time since April.

However, a statement from Iran’s top military command headquarters warned that a “more severe” response would follow if Israel continued its attacks in southern Lebanon.

Warning to Israel

The announcement came after a new round of hostilities between the two countries.

Iran said it would halt further strikes, but its military leadership indicated that any continued Israeli action in southern Lebanon could trigger a stronger response.

Trump Calls for Ceasefire

The developments followed comments from U.S. President Donald Trump, who urged both sides to stop “shooting” and said Iran and Israel were “looking to do an immediate ceasefire”.

Trump’s remarks came amid growing concerns that the latest exchange of attacks could lead to a wider regional conflict.

Exchange of Strikes

Israel carried out air strikes in western and central Iran after Iran launched missiles at Israeli territory.

The attacks marked the first direct exchange of fire between the two countries since April.

On Sunday, Trump had reportedly urged Israel not to launch an attack on Iran.
