Attacks on a water reservoir would be a war crime if intentional.

Didn't you watch the movie "The Dam Busters", or watch any of the zillion documentaries celebrating the dam busters as heroes?

I wasn't in favor of a war with Iran. I'm still not sure. But they've been sponsoring attacks on the US and our allies for over 45 years. Maybe it is time for a regime change. Or they'll be sponsoring attacks on the US interests and our allies for another 50 years.

Besides, the only way there will be peace in the Middle East is regime change in Iran. Or if Israel gets wiped out, and that would just be a temporary reprieve before they start attacking other states in the region for religious reasons.

Some will dismiss what their country did to kill their enemies or infrastructure. Those dams were taken out to flood the valleys.........

The mission, codenamed Operation Chastise, targeted the Möhne, Eder, and Sorpe dams on the night of May 16–17, 1943. The primary military goals included:

  • Crippling War Production: The Ruhr Valley was the center of Germany's military-industrial complex. The dams provided the millions of gallons of water required to produce steel and run armaments factories, as well as essential hydroelectricity.

  • Disrupting Transportation: The catastrophic release of water was expected to destroy railways, bridges, and the inland waterway system upon which German war logistics heavily depended.

  • Boosting Allied Morale: After years of gruelling conflict, the British Air Ministry desperately needed a highly publicized, daring victory to inspire the British public and demonstrate the precision and capability of the Royal Air.

  • This killed many people and hurt their water supplies also, affecting the citizens as well as the military production.

  • Yes, Iran's regime had to be toppled, and sadly citizens have died because of it, as in all wars. No one has any ideas how this could have taken place besides what has been done, along with helping Iran's citizens after it ends. Iran would surely have been continuing it's terror against not only the US, but anyone it considered an enemy to it's thinking.

  • Taking Iran's side in any of this, meaning it's regime, is being against those who oppose terrorism, which affects many other countries and has killed thousands over the last decades. Quick to be against Trump for his thinking and other projects that have failed, they aren't seeing this might in the long run give Iran's citizens peace, along with trade being better for everyone once the Strait is returned to normal.

  • War sucks but was there any other way to stop the regime's actions? Targeting civilian infrastructure like England did those dams is going to hurt the citizens in Iran more, so they should stick to the military targets. They hit our military, we hit theirs. We don't need any war crimes like other countries have done before.

And The Russians becomes right about the Usa hypocrisy again!

The problem with that instructing the troops to bomb a reservoir is that the entire chain of command from the the guy at the top giving the order to the guy dropping the boat mb is that they are all committing a war crime.

I can see Hegseth being unable to leave the USA later for fear of being arrested. Trump will already be dead I suspect.

Really, that is one of your three main arguments why this was not a horrendous war crime?

With that same logic, the V2 bombing terror against London -- it sure made German troops really happy and random roads in the larger London area surely were used to transport military goods -- was entirely right and justified... NOT!!

Do you see the error in your argument?
