The United Arab Emirates is leaving nothing to chance in terms of any future restrictions in the Strait of Hormuz.

As exporters and shipowners await the reopening of the key stretch of water, the oil and gas producer is aiming to avoid relying on tanker transits there at all.

Foreign trade minister Thani Al Zeyoudi told Bloomberg: “We’re moving toward having zero Hormuz dependency, and that’s regardless of whether it’s open or not.
