Kasikorn Banking App can see other apps on my phone.

Maybe it cannot see other apps, but it can see the settings of the phone

The bank apps can see if developer options is enabled. They also can see the Play Protect flags.

If you install an app that isn't approved by Google Play store, you have to disable Play protect or it can't be installed.

Those flags are stored on your device, because the third party app doesn't have a signature approved by Google

I don't think you need the registered sim card apart from the first time you install the app

I got news for you

The Israelites have zero-click spyware.

Kasikorn Bank does not.

Any questions? ⁉️

Yes, I have a question.

How do you install their spyware without clicking anything to install it? (zero click) 🙂

I don't like this, either.

The reason is, every now and then I connect my phone to my PC to back up / copy the photos I have taken. The "No File Transfer / Allow File Transfer" (or similar wording) is a safety feature that is in developer mode. I have to enable developer mode, copy my photos, and then disable it again for some apps. To enable it again to copy more photos I have to tap on the build number 7 times. Android should have File Transfer outside developer mode but behind the phone's finger print / PIN.

Generally speaking, ZDEs (Zero Day Exploits) that haven't been patched yet with security updates.

There's a black market for ZDEs with people who figure out how to do sell for $20-40,000+ USD

The Israelites buy whenever the opportunity arises and use them on their target list, worldwide.

How you get on their target list now that their massage Honeypot is no longer blackmailing academics, businessmen, financial, royalty, oil sheiks, whoever including women...?

AI data centers, of course. What do you think they will be used for?

All they need is your phone number the spyware s pushed onto the phone a bit like those emergency alerts that 'magically' appear.

This is for your protection, to prevent a rogue app from stealing your banking info.

Ok, but this a kinda the point I am making. If they didn't let ANY app see what other apps you have on your phone, thus, what you do with other apps also, then the rough app shouldn't be able to steal from a banking app, or any other app for that matter.

Ideally buy a second phone and install the app on that. Bangkok bang is worse they want access to everything on your phone including messages, emails, photos, contacts etc.. This is why I will not put these apps on my phone.

You embed an installation code within the other application.

That would take a "click" right? The member said "zero click." 🙂

I'm using an old phone I retired a while ago. I was under the belief the Thai sim had to be in the phone, but this is only for installation. This is easier than uninstalling and reinstalling certain apps.

Eventually, Kasikorn Bank will not support the old phone's version of Android, but by then I will have a new phone, and my current phone becomes the old phone, so I will remove the apps Kasikorn doesn't like and the system should keep working going forward.

Not necessarily. Just by clicking install it could do it.

That's a click. 🙂

It should read, "One Click" not "Zero Click." The Israeli's are good, but not that good. 🙂

However, they do supply "Zero Click" exploding pagers, but that's for another topic. 🙂

You install the app and that is all it takes

Sorry, but you're missing the point. The rougue app doesn't have the privilege to see what apps are installed, this privilege is restricted to apps verified by the Google store that can demonstrate to Google that they require this privilege (e.g. like a banking app). The rouge app could steal info off your screen, such as login and password, for any app you use. For this reason, I only install apps from trusted sources.

No they don't. Here is what they have permission for on my phone.

Sorry, but you're missing the point.

If NO apps had the ability to see, therefore access, ANY other app one may have on their phone, than the phone is safer and security is enhanced, Google Play Store or no Google Play Store.

Once again, if NO apps can see any other app, how can it steal anything?

The rouge app could capture screen shots and keyboard entries, take selfies , listen to the mike and intercept OTP messages...the banks want the ability to scan for known apps that are dubious.

No, you're missing the point.

A rougue app doesn't necessarily have to "see" what you have installed if it can record sensitive info. If I was a hacker and had a list of login/password pairs from the apps you've run I could easily cycle through that list for as many banking websites as I wanted to try, and this procedure could be automated.

Lets look at it another way. If they don't want such access why state it? You only need to state what you actually need. Doesn't it seem a little strange that that list what is not needed?

There are certain apps that require permissions, such as kill apps and Norton cleaning, and all I have to do is turn off the permissions for these apps to get into the K Bank app.

Thanks.

I had been uninstalling apps and reinstalling them, now using a second phone. I'll give that a try.

Consider yourself lucky. I have bank accounts in both Thailand and the Philippines (and 2 or 3 other countries). It's much tighter in the Philippines. Even having developer options turned on will make your banking apps not work.

Did it mention the name of the offending app or just give some generic message?

Indeed,

If you have 'developer options' enabled on your phone it sometimes causes a problem.

True.

So, since when do certain companies have the right to control what you do with your own hardware? Looking more like Microsoft everyday.

It's been like this for the last decade.

Only recently with the Kasikorn Bank app for me. Never had a problem in the past, now I can't open the app whilst the other app is on my phone.

There is a difference betwen "see" and "detect".

It is highly appropriate that a banking app can detect anything that would pose a potential risk.
