Do you believe you will die? And, why?

Featured Replies

Yes, I will die, but what I am more worried about is that I may have to come back and live with humans again and again.

  • Only a 28-word post (with a solitary ellipsis) from Gamma - I think maybe I'm dead already.

  • Do you really think that’s air you’re breathing now?

If you believe in reincarnation as it seems, you might come back as a worker ant, and that might not be a positive improvement.

No. I’m getting cryogenically frozen with strict instructions to bring me back as a Dalek.

Have you ever thought that a worker ant has a purpose in life! ?

Sure, to support the queen, defend against predators and build the nest. I was just telling him he might be in a better place now with humans than being one of many ants that will die in less then a few years being nothing but a worker and possible slave for other ants.

By far one of the greatest British alternative rock bands of the 1980s. You’d have to have been living under a rock not to recognize them immediately. They played in Dublin just last week, and these clips are from those shows.

Even if life is good, with enough challenges, treats you well, with money and success, is it worth anything without purpose? A real purpose? A good and valid purpose? Not just something to make life as good and comfortable as you can until the final death, but something that makes life feel right and honest before you get there.

Raising my children is the best thing I've accomplished in my life. The other things are personal hobbies and accomplishments which are mine only. This last child will be around at least 10 more years, and then it will be all for me, although I'll be about 80 then lol

There you go. Living for something beyond yourself makes perfect sense, and is a great purpose.

accumulating health issues for all my mates

Rather a badly worded sentence. I think you mean that you HOPE that you will survive a further 10 years until you are 80, then up to Heaven you go.

I intend living forever.

So far, so good!

No, that's what I meant. This last child will be around at least 10 more years, meaning she will be living with me at least 10 more years, than all the time will be mine. How long after I don't know, but hoping to make 100.

. If someone asks me how long do you think you have left I say maybe 200 months, maybe 250. It somehow gives each day more of a sense of urgency and allows for some perspective.

I find myself doing this when thinking about my retirement. when to actually take it and how many months ill have money for

And either one of you could be killed in a road accident tomorrow, or you drop dead with a heart attack when England wins the World Cup.

You need to face reality.

I likely won't have a heart attack as I don't follow soccer, and have eaten healthy all my years. I fully understand that anyone can pass at any time but it's better to think of tomorrow and the tomorrows after that. Having children has you wanting to be there for them , at least until they can fend for themselves. My other 5 are all doing well, so it's this one now.I've faced reality decades ago seeing family and friends pass way too young.

I'm just hoping it's at least 80, but 100 would be better, as my bucket list still needs filling.

The after life is an artificial construct used by the five accepted religions and their many power hungry schismatic sects to address two main dilemma that arrive from human self awareness.

Any individual whether in prehistoric times at one point in the past or in our times right now ,will ask themselves metaphorically speaking, " when the lights go out after everything I've been through, surely there must be more than becoming worm food! "

Short answer ,Nope!

.... but then in rush all the religious archtypes with assurances that you will never die spiritualy if you believe in our system. This has been in place in the human experience for as long as homo sapiens have been carving

images on cave walls.

To what end ?

1 - Offer false hope about an beautiful afterlife to comfort those unable to conceive their non existence and

2- with that false hope control whatever society that false relgion springs from.

The enlighten made things more complicated for all the major religions but the ignorance of the demos has allowed them to maintain their sway.

Logically, most of us realize that our death is assured.

But, on the other hand.....

Do you really BELIEVE that you will die?

From our current existence yes but as the Astro physicists are now starting to consider the existence of the multi-verse then there very possible other existences we could enter when ew leave this one. If we do or do not our understanding is irrelevant as what will happen will happen.

I can’t imagine the world without me. I know I’ll die and return to how it was before I was born. I know they’re is no gods only man made ones. Which god you have is guided by where you were born and who you parents supported. Anyone capable of critical thinking knows this!

Yes, the modern physical sciences are beginning to make the 'Yes' answer seem as naive as the 'No' answer.

Best we can do (currently) is say: Well, we'll find out when we die to this current life on earth.

They don't say yes, what they say is that it is a strong option that may or may not exist.
