Hidden Cameras in Chiang Mai Mall Toilets Lead to Businessman's Arrest

Featured Replies

A wealthy businessman named Chris, aged 41, has been arrested in Chiang Mai for installing hidden cameras in women's toilets at a local shopping mall. The arrest came after a mall employee found a camera beneath a washbasin in a restroom. Authorities tracked the camera signals back to Chris's luxury home, leading to his apprehension.

The incident began when a mall employee filed a complaint on April 16, resulting in a police investigation. Initial inspections revealed four hidden cameras in various locations within the women's toilets at the mall. Using technical analysis, police traced the signals to Chris's residence, prompting a search with a warrant from the Chiang Mai Provincial Court.

Police discovered 11 remote-controlled surveillance cameras, two mobile phones, and a laptop with explicit recordings during their search. Chris admitted to installing the cameras over a month, hiding them in inconspicuous places like air-freshener containers. He claimed the recordings were for private use, having learned the practices online.

Chris, described as well-educated and financially secure, admitted his curiosity in video voyeurism was spurred by social media, despite having no intention to distribute the films. Police emphasized the inevitability of tracking digital footprints and urged caution to prevent similar actions. Women were advised to remain vigilant in public restrooms.

Looking forward, law enforcement continues to reinforce public awareness regarding privacy concerns, while also advocating for stricter monitoring in public spaces. The arrest highlights the growing challenges posed by easily accessible surveillance technology and the importance of legal frameworks to deter such violations.

What's the World coming to when you can't even have a " snakes hiss " in privacy.

How can we feel rage and bicker when we don't know where Chris is from ?

Yeah, that's weird, as if he's being protected for some reason. I wonder what that reason could be? (555)

It's a sarcastic comment making light of the racist ragebait garbage reading the daily news every morning entails and specifically the unusual lack of it here.

First thing that came to my mind: farang or Thai who gave himself a farang nickname to look cool? Probably the latter.

Probably a wealthy Chinese , they seem to have a fetish for toilets , I watched a documentary about hidden cameras in China, they are everywhere.

Does the fact that it doesn't say "Foreigner" mean that 'Chris' just might be a Thai pervert rather than a 'Farang pervert' Makes such a nice change, don't you think?

You are probably right.

"Chris, 41, owns a luxury house worth more than 10 million baht in an upscale housing estate in tambon San Phi Suea of Muang district"

He gets his willey going by bathroom videos? Sick SOB..

I could care less if he is filming me urinating or defecating.

Just amazed that a young 41 year man old can't engage in a normal intimate relationships and regresses to voyeurism.

Big risk for doing such a thing.

If it was just for private use, safer to

watch the many JAV "documentaries" about it.

Wow. There's only really 3 'Shopping Malls' in Chiang Mai; 2 Centrals and 1 Maya.

I wonder which one.

My wife says it must be Central Festival because of the location of the police office handling the case.

Doesn't sound like this falls under the Computer Crimes Act. Wonder what the final charges will be.

This article states

Initially, police have charged him with possession of child pornography for sexual exploitation, either for himself or others.

Aussies are the ones who have a monopoly on Sarcasm and Irony, you know.

For the rest of TV readers, one must explain everything to them.

Only Aussies understand Irony.

Obviously for research purposes.

This police intervention will probably stop the data from being made public.

So that must mean some of the restroom users filmed were kids. Yes?

In Thailand Child Protection Act: A child is defined as anyone under 18 so more than likely some of the restroom users were under the age of 18
