You cant answer .

How can you say that some Thai guys would never attack you ?

If four Thai guys attacked you, would you fight them all or run away ?

The Thai kids were circling outside waiting for an excuse.

He did well to escape and smart move to leave his bike and exit fast.

Has there ever been any other instances of Thai guys attacking another Thai for alleged shoplifting ?

There is no evidence that the man was thieving. There is an unsubstantiated allegation from some local thugs. Experience has shown that these people lie and invent events to provide a cover for their own misdeeds.

Personally, I will await police viewing the store video before making a judgement. 16 years+ never had or read about 7-11 store clerks accusing a customer with taking/drinking energy drinks without paying without basis.

Another total loser, what attracts them to this part of the World?

This part of the world being Pattaya (sh-t-heads).

In the UK, where shoplifting is endemic, shop staff are instructed not to confront thieves.

Yes, pity the thieving pansy white guy ran away. A good beat down is the least he deserved.

He stood and went toe to toe with four Thais .

Maybe it's the energy drink that attracts them. After all that's what the fight is all about those energy drinks?

Well that's one version of events.

Let's wait and see what the follow up news if any tells us.

Indeed- many unanswered questions in my mind before I can form a conclusion really

I'd love to hear your explanation of how my opinion can be "fabricated"!

To fabricate/fabricated is to form. Are you trying to say that you didn’t form your own opinion? If not then where did it come from? Thin air?

We don't know if he stole anything.

My guess would be some sort of misunderstanding, perhaps the shop had one of those misleading signs with some Thai language and then a big 'Free' in English.

The Thai reads something like buy this that and something else then get this 'Free' foreigner justs sees 'Free'. ???

Yes. Or different price with 7-11 membership. Still no excuse to make a scene about 15 THB. I've lost much more money here 🤣

Not that I know of and seems very unlikely.................unless it was an owner catching a thief

Should have nicked a shirt.

Typical Thai street justice, and an example of fair play.

Free 90 scratch that 60 ? no 30 day visa.

"The incident has triggered widespread criticism online, with social media users questioning why members of the public tried to physically restrained the suspect instead of contacting police to handle the matter through legal procedures."

More and more self justice. In European countries we say "Where is the police when you need them?". Maybe this is happening in Thailand aswell?

And the criticism... every day they criticize something that happened. I looks like they don't have a live without it. That is what social media is about. Anonymously criticize everything and everybody. We all do this don't we? We are part of the social system and hooken on it by addiction

You would need to post that question in Thai on a Thai forum or Facebook group. I'm confident the locals take care of their own social miscreants daily and aren't lurking outside convenience stores in tourist ghettos, preying on thieving farangs.

Could have shown staff bag and its contents, no problems if you did nothing wrong. Now facing at a possible deportation.

Just now, NanLaew said:

What would you have done in that same situation ?

BTW , "I wouldn't have got into that situation" , isn't a credible answer

I'd have used my energy on the fled bit. But then I'm an old'un.

It's a credible answer in my circumstances.

OK, so how should the UK guy have reacted to 4 Thai guys attcking him ?

You ridiculed him for running way , what should be have done?

Four Thai guys start hitting him , What should he do next ?

I think you're missing the point. The kid brought it on himself. Maybe he should have paid for what he stole

He said 3 times that he had already paid for everything

He told the Thai guys that hed already paid for it .

Its then the Thais attacked him .

It's more likely he didn't pay for it
