Thanks for the compliment, but I do think that cruelty, ignorance, corruption, and nastiness come in different degrees, and though I do agree that all presidents are self-serving, I think some are infinitely more noble, and stable than others.

In the 2016 primary campaign, Graham called Trump a kook, a fraud and a liar.

That spark of honesty disappeared for some reason, and Graham joined the cult.

 

Graham showed he neither believed in truth nor patriotism. He became a weak kneed fraud, a suck up to a grifter and traitor.

 

In the first Trump impeachment, Graham had a chance to stand up for truth. He chose Party over truth.  He went along with Trump withholding Congressional approved support for Ukraine, unless Zelenskyy made up allegations against Biden. Graham could have stood with truth and with Ukraine but instead chose Trump. Perhaps Graham’s subsequent visits to Ukraine and his support for Ukraine against invading Russia was due to guilt. Too late.

 

In the second Trump impeachment, Graham stood with the insurrectionists and their leader Trump. Graham became a traitor to US ideals of democracy and the peaceful transition of power, refusing to place the guilt for the insurrection where it belonged: squarely on Trump. Graham did not speak out against the pardons for the convicted criminals either. No backbone, no actual belief in US ideals.

 

Graham’s legacy will be that of a coward. He chose Trump over truth and patriotism. He is a disgrace to everyone who ever stood up for those two things. Graham was closeted in many ways, including being a traitor to US ideals. The “confirmed bachelor” was a total fraud. Whatever legacy he might have built for himself before 2016, he threw away. What's left is his post-2016 record of being a partisan, anti-American hack.

1) For most of us there is never a good time to die but Grahams's sudden death comes at a bad time 2) Graham was the GOP nominee for the Senate in SC. 3) The SC GOP now has to organize a quick nomination process for the Senate candidate 4) Two qualified people, Nikki Haley and Nancy Mace, are on the "Don's" Sxxt list so who will be the new nominee? My guess is someone who has not pissed off the "Don". The balance of power in the SEN will be impacted.

I give him credit for his support of Ukraine.

Trump's influence is on a steep decline so it might not be like you expect.

But 2028 might be the battle between Rubio and Vance. That is unless both are on the ticket? I see Mace as a candidate with baggage. She has displayed problematic behavior in public. Especially towards TSA agents.
