Does anyone have any tips to getting married faster? It seems all the district offices in Bangkok want to make you wait 3 months with no date confirmed, just a "we will call you in 3 months" to encourage you to use an agent so they can get their kickbacks and when asking an agent they quote 24,000 baht which is absolutely ridiculous, keep in mind I have all steps completed up to booking appointment at district office so the 24k is just to bribe someone to shave off 2 months of waiting.

Just go to the local wat and a monk can arrange a quick path to separate you from your money.

Damn, where was that office when I got married the 1st time in Bangkok, TH ... and would have been damn helpful, to avoid divorce #3 😭

Paperwork sorted in 2000, and no waiting, at BKK. Thankfully, getting divorced was even easier, no paperwork needed.

I did all the Embassy stuff and translations for the MFA in Bangkok, and did the marriage paperwork up here and was given English translations, all FOC.

The marriage took a week as we had to wait for the Boss to be back in the office.

Clean, quick, efficient, and FREE.

skip the whole shebang and give the lady all your stuff.

Saves coin on the marriage/divorce process.

What's the rush? more importantly why even get married? it's mainly for women, you'll have more power and therefore a better relationship if you don't get married

I can think of several reasons why one might wish to get married, but none of them really explain the mad rush, even if she was pregnant, which is hardly an issue these days anyway.

So I reckon the rush is visa related could be him wanting to reduce the 800,000 deposit and change to a married extension ? or maybe he's having to head home and wants a visa for her ?

He says he's done all the paperwork but part of that is the "affidavit of freedom to marry" and as far as I remember the pro forma I used required the date or at least the month of the intended marriage. When I got mine stamped at the Embassy the girl told me it was only valid for 30 days So he might have to reconsider his ( or her) plans

Getting married fast to a Thai will drain your bank account. Then you will come here explaining what happened and looking for answers to what was obvious in the first place. That’s your advice for today but you will no doubt ignore it.

What benefit would the OP be seeking then, if not a visa for the missus back to his home country?

Would it be the 400k baht as opposed to the 800k baht for his own visa / extension? If so, why not pay an agent?

possibly, it would reduce the amount required on deposit and also reduce the time it needs to be kept in the bank for after the application.

On the other hand his rich father might have died , leaving him millions , on the condition that he had ends his carefree bachelor days and settles down with a wife if that's the case and he's lookin for a best man , I'm available

I don't know much about agents , I never used one , wouldn't know where to find one to be honest. maybe he's worried about the "crackdown"

We got married at the Monks' Hospital on Si Ayutthaya. Drop in their and find out when they're having their next (Moonie-style) wedding. They are a govt venue so will give you a registered certificate. It was a great experience.
