Burnham crowned PM but Britain never got a vote! We want an Election

The majority of UK elections fall on, or about their due date as prescribed in our wonderfully unwritten constitution. At that time, the eligible but typically apathetic voters can have their say, regardless of them understanding or ever having read any parties manifesto. Lemmings.

Don't think Labour did anything in their manifesto.

Which is probably why everyone hated Starmer!

Manifesto

Stop illegals, didn't

Not increase tax on poor, did, first act removed pensioner winter fuel allowance, then increased ni contributions.

Digital id, no mention

Push net zero, no mention (but did claim to keep fuel bills down)

Jail people for mean tweets, no mention.

As a manifesto expert, maybe you could tell us any item in their manifesto they did manage to implement? I don't see anything!

Burnham didn't stand in the general election. Would you be OK with Hitler being appointed PM by the Labour party as PM? Might be a good way to get an unelectable person as PM. Why not Khan for PM?

So you didn't/haven't/never have read their manifesto either?

Apparently his lack of charisma was the top deal-breaker with Starmer. His having "done nothing" being the second most common response of the deep-thinking lemming when asked to clarify their dislike for him, with "Ummm...." being their third-placed answer.

Good try Chomper but there no longer members of Reform now. Nigel removed there whips and the others were sacked or left. You obviously didn't read my post. I posted, name current members of Reform who have Convictions. The three you named are no longer Reform members. Burnhams new Buisness secretary Jonathan Reynolds lied on his CV saying he completed his training as a solicitor when he was rumbled. As for jobs for the boy's the MP sacrificed by labour in Makerfield has been a given a nice little number in Downing Street.

There is no ‘Stop Illegal Immigration’ pledge in the Labour Party Manifesto, rather it makes pledges regarding related issues.

The not increase tax pledge was made with respect to working people. Workers taxes and NI were not increased.

The Labour Manifesto made no mention of the winter fuels allowance, therefore manifesto promises not broken.

Digital ID has been cancelled.

Net Zero is a legally mandated requirement of Tgr Climate Change Act (2008), Labour and the Conservatives before them are bound to implement net zero by law.

Nobody has been jailed for ‘mean tweets’,

I’ve linked manifesto pledges met above together with the Workers Rights Act and the Renters Rights Act.

Let me know if you have any more misinformed nonsense for me to correct.

So you consider Labour under Starmer to be an outstanding success?

I don't remember the media screaming for an election when, following John Smiths unfortunate passing, Tony Blair took the reins.

Of course, you don't remember the media screaming for an election as Smith was never the PM. The 1994 Labour Party leadership election was held on 21 July 1994 following the death of the incumbent leader, John Smith, on 12 May. Tony Blair won the leadership and became Prime Minister after winning the 1997 general election. When he defeated John Major!

Add the workers rights and renters rights Acts to the following:

Workers rights have made worker more expensive (esp combined with higher employer nat ins contributions) so have prevented private sector (particularly small) businesses employing people hence higer unemployment.

Renters rights have stopped evictions for anything - inc. long term non payment, ASB etc. - so have reduced the availabiility of rental properties - and pushed rents up to complenstae fthe risk.

Both policies are <deleted> but I know your not interested in the truth and get off on arguing the toss so expect some snidey bull<deleted> response....

So you are a not just master of baseless and laughingly false posts, you’re also showing promise in the use of the non sequiteur.

Question.

Where pledges on workers rights and renters rights included in the Labour Manifesto and if so did passing these to Acts into law meet the manifesto promise?

I wonder why, when someone doesn't agree with who is prime minister, they repeat the trope, "Well I didn't vote for him"?

Sounds like a Monty Python sketch.

The UK has lasted hundreds of years deciding that the party head becomes PM.

For the person that doesn't know it, there is a Constitution. The UK's constitution is partly written and uncodified, drawing from a mix of Acts of Parliament, historical charters (like the Magna Carta), judicial decisions, and traditional unwritten practices known as constitutional conventions. Some seen to think the USA is the only country with a Constitution.

Instead of voting for ministers, the PM chooses them. There's no point in arguing that the PM should not follow this Constitutional rule. Choose to change it.

I'd call it "Farcical Democracy" at best.

Compared to what? The dysfunction of proportional representation where every nutter party gets representation? That pure democracy gives you an unstable government like Israel. Would you rather the corruption of the USA where large PACS can channel tens of millions of $$ into a campaign? The concept of the electoral college that the USA has isn't any better, since it is the electoral college that selects the president, and not the voters.

Rules for thee not for me, You're hitting on the core hypocrisy here. In a parliamentary system, the party forms the government, not an individual. But whenever the shoe is on the other foot, the standard magically changes. If the Right used the exact same process to install Farage, leftist heads would explode demanding an immediate election.

Just a reminder that new Prime Minister Andy Burnham voted for the Iraq War, an illegal war that killed over a million people.

He joined Labour Friends of Israel, called BDS “spiteful”, praised Israel as a “democracy”, described the Balfour Declaration as “British values in action”, and still refuses to call the genocide in Palestine a genocide.

There is not one single change in Burnham's policy towards Gaza, Israel, Palestine, Lebanon or Iran:
or
the outlawing of protest in the Yookay

He said he’ll go ahead with digital plans - including digital driving licences (digital IDs via the backdoor), a government app, OneLogin & Government Wallet.

Not wearing a suit, having a northern accent, and getting rid of a lectern doesn’t make you a radical alternative. He’s another establishment roll of the dice.

Leftists believe we are the servants of the state

whereas

The state should be servants of the people who pay for them (taxpayers)

Indeed, the public may well have preferred Tony Blair but his name was never on the ballot paper.

The PM is the leader of the party they have voted for. Had the names been the other way round where would the country be. The democratic setup is that the country should be run by party policy not an individuals. Unfortunately the dynamics within government along with public opinion makes the UK effectively a presidential republic.
