Customs Confiscates 100 Million Baht in Falsely Labelled Thai Products

Thai authorities have seized more than 100 million baht worth of Chinese imports carrying fraudulent “Made in Thailand” labels at Laem Chabang Port. Customs officials and the Department of Foreign Trade conducted inspections targeting businesses operating inside Free Zones and industrial estate zones. One shipment contained 5.37 million TWOMOON cigarettes from China that had been labelled as Thai products, representing an estimated economic impact of 17 million baht. Another case involved more than 202,000 sets of cutter blades and production equipment valued at over 82.7 million baht. Officials said the shipments may have violated customs legislation and warned that false origin labels can damage confidence in Thai exports while helping companies avoid international trade restrictions.
