Pawn Stars expert reveals truth behind Trump's 'gold' coin

Pawn Stars star Rick Harrison has poured cold water on claims surrounding a new Donald Trump commemorative coin, revealing it isn't made of solid gold despite its appearance.

Speaking on Newsmax's Wake Up America Weekend, Harrison explained that the collectible is actually a gold-tone coin made primarily from copper rather than precious metal.

"It's 88% copper," Harrison said, surprising the show's hosts as he clarified the coin's true composition.

Collectible, not an investment

Although it isn't solid gold, Harrison believes the Trump coin could still become highly sought after by collectors.

He pointed out that commemorative coins often gain value because of demand rather than the metal they're made from, especially when they are linked to major political figures.

"I think this will be highly collectible," Harrison said.

Trump supporters could drive demand

Harrison suggested the coin's biggest advantage is that it appeals to more than traditional coin collectors.

"It's one of those things where you don't just have coin collectors buying it, you're going to have Trump fans buying it too, which I think is really going to push the price up."

He joked that, like many Trump-related products, roughly half the country will want one while the other half probably won't.

Grading could boost future value

Harrison said many buyers are likely to have their coins professionally graded, with collectors hoping for the highest possible score of 70, which can significantly increase resale value.

While he stopped short of predicting the coin would become one of history's great rarities, he noted that scarcity, condition and collector demand are what ultimately determine long-term prices.

Don't confuse it with real gold

Harrison stressed that buyers should understand they are purchasing a commemorative keepsake, not a solid gold investment.

The coin may carry collector appeal and could appreciate over time, but its value will depend far more on demand among Trump supporters and memorabilia collectors than on the metal itself.

Nobody else would be stupid enough to buy them. Same as the shoes, bibles, meme coins, etc.
