Why I feel sorry for poor James Bond

No Time to Die was okay, much like the rest of the Bond films. Some good stunts, but nothing truly spectacular.

I stopped watching those films a long time ago.

They're all the same.

How many sequels can you watch?

Watch something else.

It is Time to Die, for this franchise to die.

Excellent actress she may be, but as the boss of Bond she was about as convincing as a Nigerian Prince asking for your bank account number. Or a Bond with a Nokia.

Yes, clearly it is fiction, but there has to be some believability, and the novels clearly were well written and believable to the extent that generations of men did model themselves on Bond. To this day parts of the manosphere tell you to act like Bond. When he's now as believable as Peter Rabbit.

Judi Dench is one of the better actresses of our time. If you look at the leaders before her, they weren't calling Bond out, which should have been a no brainer for his actions, but before, Bond was supposed to be a player, which was what they had in mind before, a hero to some , jerk to others.

Only a misogynist would model themselves after Bond, as he's the worse type of "man" we have. This is why they wrote a stronger actress in with Dench. Manosphere aren't men but little boys who were never taught respect for women, and see them as objects.

The Bond franchise happens to be fiction, right from the start. Get it? Fiction, not reality.

Yes, dear, we all get that Bond is fiction, however, fiction, at least good fiction, has to be believable. Unfortunately, Bond now has become as a believable as your posts, ie not very much. A Nokia phone. I mean really.

but it broadened the films' appeal to a wider audience, especially women

Well, Thunderball still made more money when adjusted for inflation, but clearly women were short-changed with Daniel Craig. As stated, his looks and cold fish persona, hardly made for good sex scenes.

In the final analysis the makers of Bond have sold out Bond to Nokia, Vaio, BMW and all the other companies they beg product placement money from. And of course literally as Bond was actually sold to Amazon. They have pandered to the woke, PC brigade, like yourself, and yes, that has put that crowd on the seats in the short term, but it will surely spell the end of Bond, as a believable character in the long term. He's become ludicrous now.

There is that of course, it's a stale formula done to death. Hard to flog that same dead horse over and over again and still come out tops. They give it a good go, but clearly the edges are fraying.

Only the Craig Bond movies were interesting. The earlier ones were really too silly to take seriously, especially after Goldfinger. Hard to believe the franchise lasted as long as it did.

I find Goldfinger much more believable than Skyfall. Judi Dench as Bond's boss? A Nokia phone? A guy hacking into MI6 whilst imprisoned? I mean Skyfall is ludicrous.

The Woke nonsense has even infected the game now though. 007 First Light has a rude/bossy Asian woman as M, a rude/bossy black woman as Moneypenny and Bond's Drill instructor is rude, patronizing and black. In the cut scenes they all sneer at Bond like he is some type of retard. All the old silly stuffy characters are white. Obviously.

Hardly a white face in the Q-lab. Maybe 90% non white at a guess.

It's worse than the adverts on ITV. 😄

I thought there was supposed to be equal representation of races? Not almost complete erasure of white people. 😄

Looking forward to a black Lesbian Bond and her furry trans partner to finish off the franchise for good. 😄

The films are passable light entertainment, but really the PC thuggery rammed down your throat, the product placement shamelessness, it's all a bit much. They try too hard.

What is odd, is all the black people in Bond, when the UK has far more Indians and Pakistanis and East Europeans? Where are the Indians and East Europeans in Bond? Looking at the films they don't exist. Clearly, putting in black people is a much surer bet to assuage your PC cravings.

Who cares what all these fictional human beings are doing?

I always found most of these background characters annoying and these silly subplots just distracting from the main action.

Was a perfect time to go take a dump when these useless characters were on screen.

Don't let them brainwash you.

Just enjoy the action.

True. It's like looking up to a real character like the Kardashians and seeing them as heroes also.

I watch all good movies. Having respect for women is what a man's supposed to have ingrained since birth.

Since birth? Then he sees Bonnie Blue I guess.

The main point is who will they take as the new Bond and will he be shown as a gay, woke, cofunder environmentalist ?

Looks like Callum Turner, an adolescent looking Boy Wonder is the front runner. If he does get the Bond gig, it will be like a 15 year old playing Bond.

My wife did this to me when I met her. Apparently all the girls at work were raving about it. I told her I'm not touching it until you grow it back. She was begging me because she stacked up months of coupons from GoWabi.

Ridiculous habit.

The Bourne movies were better.

So, this time you got hooked on a Nokia phone! Unbelievable! What´s next? Tom Hanks using Borax at the laundromat, in episode 6 of next TV show?

I mean, that was just cynical, wasn't it, make James Bond carry a Nokia phone. No matter how hard up the UK, is we all know never in a million years would the UK stoop so low and issue its secret agents with Nokia phones. It ruins the whole illusion, and you realize James Bond is not real, nothing in it is real. Even in these hard times the UK would at least spring for a Samsung A54 for Bond. Even a used one would be better than a Nokia.

Did they even have Samsung A54's when that movie was made?

It all depends on which phone company offers to pay the most to feature their product in the movie.

I remember one where an Ericsson was used.

Exactly, like ads during the Superbowl and other major events. Some items are blocked out for the same reasons. You feature things, it's advertisement and more profits for them. Movies are another huge modem for advertisement. TV you can skip the ads, but going to movies you sit and watch, or hear the ads used.

So, as you no doubt know, Netflix has released a slew of the Daniel Craig Bond movies. Obviously I could tell immediately back when Craig first came out that he'd be the worst Bond there ever was, so I gave his films a miss at the time. Quite a mistake as some of the films are not bad. But I noticed one shocking detail, James Bond is now issued with a Nokia phone. A Nokia phone! I mean, clearly Britain has hit hard times, but issuing their top secret agent a Nokia phone? I started feeling sorry for poor James. Then I noticed his boss was a rather unattractive woman, Judi Dench, his stand-in, 007 part deux so to speak, was a black woman. As was Moneypenny. The question is really, if Daniel Craig feels sorry for himself, for starring in the most pc-infested, product placement cursed Bond films ever? Poor James Bond.

TBH I would have felt sorry, very sorry for James Bond, if they had issued an iPhone!

Product placement is always a thing in movies, but who really pays attention? I know I didn't. Nokia phone? Who is paying attention to the phone when the movies usually have cute girls?

If it slips by unnoticed it's no big deal, but in Skyfall it is so obvious and in your face, it's hard to miss. Plus a Nokia phone is just taking the p%^&. Or MI6 using Vaio computers. And now the Bond movies don't have "cute girls" anymore, the girls are all "strong wimmin" and greater killing machines than Bond. Equality see? Simples.

I may be missing one or two of the latest Bond movies. Casino Royale was good, I thought. They went downhill from there.

It's really a bizarre and strange experience watching these Bond movies. The action scenes are excellent. The plot lines are intricate and elaborate. The acting is not bad. And yet, and yet...you simply can't enjoy these movies. As someone said above the age old formula is same same, and then there's the PC cudgel being swung relentlessly, the shameless product placement. You just feel like you're being manipulated watching these films. Even the best stunts and great acting can't paper past that. Having the Bond girls supposedly now become killer machines and beat up and kill men non-stop doesn't help believability.

I just can't take Bond seriously anymore.
