Ref 60 day extension to visit thai spouse.

Featured Replies

A snowbird friend of mine normally comes in Oct on 90 day marriage non O and then applies for a 60 day extension to visit wife. Been doing it some years without a problem.

However beginning of this year when applying for the 60 day extension the IO told him that things were changing and he wouldn't be able to do that next time, he would have to show proof of income or 400K. Implication being that he would have to apply for a 12 month extension rather than the 60 day.

He uses Udon Thani so has anyone else using that office heard a similar story.

Not the same, however some offices have been making 60 day extension difficult and even refused for visa exempt entry ever since v.e was changed to 60 days.

The Non O + 60 day extension is nice cocktail for 5 month stay however would not be shocked to read some offices pushing towards ongoing 12 month extensions.

Just one person's opinion... Thinking for those that want approx 5 month stay then annual extensions from a Non O (marriage or retirement) + reentry permit is bullet proof option.

DTV is another option

Seems like they are intent on pushing all of us into using an agent.

Not if you meet the criteria

Not UT, but it was always a given that you could apply for a 60 day extension each entry, although that appears to be at the discretion of each IO.

A friend regularly entered VE twice a year and obtained 60 day extension each entry up until the beginning of 2023.
He was then informed they would only grant a 60 day extension once per calendar year.

2024 he entered with a Non O, banked 400K, and applied for the 1 year extension.

He and his Thai spouse now spend 6 months in Thailand, 6 months in the UK.
