No. Google says there are still over 1,500 of the very old, polluting BMTA dinosaurs, plus another 2,800 to 7,800 other registered diesel buses.

... what Google didn't tell you was that those diesel-engined buses in Bangkok are mostly fueled with LPG.

It would be a very sad day if you couldn't take your drunk good friend, on first vacation to Thailand and not go back to your hotel in the middle of the night doing a wheelie in the back of a petrol p

Have they got rid of all the large diesel busses yet?

  • I thought most tuk tuks had been converted to run on LPG. Half of the fun of riding a tuk tuk is the noise it makes,if they go electric then someone should think of another name as they won't make the

Is that true? I know that it isn't. Is AI always accurate?

I'm in Bangkok every day and see the buses, are you?

Amazing that AI has access to the DLT data. 😲

They can't even coordinate with RTP for speeding fines (Sorry no ROFL emoji)

I'll take AI's word vs LL going around and checking the petrols used on all the BKK buses verifying LPG vs NVG. Clipboard at the ready 🙄

Most posters don't even live in TH, let alone BKK.

Where's mop boy when need him ??? cheesy

(ROFL seek and you shall find)

That would be one tiny little. baby step in the right direction.

Next they could start tackling diesel buses and diesel pickup trucks that are poorly maintained and spew out massive clouds of black smoke.

Then they can start arresting the farmers that burn their crops and poison entire communities through sheer laziness and lack of innovation.

Old diesel buses are a primary contributor to Bangkok's hazardous PM2.5 air pollution crisis.

Thank you, I do know what black diesel smoke looks like. I also know what '2021' in your link means; it means that the article is at least 5 years old and the photo used in the article could be years older than that, so thank you for confirming my point.

Oh, so you think it’s ancient history because of a URL? Let’s look at the actual picture: that is a BMTA route 206 diesel bus pumping out a smoke screen. The BMTA literally just confirmed they are currently operating 1,520 of these exact non-air-conditioned diesel buses right now, and the first phase of EV replacements doesn’t even hit the road until September 2026. Try taking a walk down Sukhumvit—you'll smell the diesel real quick!

That report that was linked was not current, it was at least 5 years old and most of Bangkok's diesel-engined buses are fueled on LPG/NGV whether you like it or not.
