Jailed for three years sems harsh for ejaculating on her slacks. No penetration was involved. My gut feel is that the 3 year sentence is a strong message to this group and he will get early release.

Yes it seems unlikely doesn't it (to happen that fast). But it's the woman's comments that are a bit hard to interpret. She said he'd pay the consequences and then spelled out what they are (maximum?) 3 years in prison and/or a big fine and barred for life from Thailand. So maybe she meant this is what he is facing? I haven't seen anything newer on this.

I cannot understand why anyone would commit any crime on an airplane, especially a serious one. There was obviously no escape plan involved in his thought process.

My first wife had a similar experience (45 years ago) in a public park in regional Australia.

She was sleeping on a picnic blanket, in the sun, 3 month old baby next to her. I was 50 meters away with my toddler son looking at the animals in cages when I heard my wife's screams.

A sexually deviant creep had stalked her, hidden behind a tree, masturbated and ejaculated over her legs as she was sleeping. She woke and screamed. He ran, but not before he turned and threw some rocks at her.

I saw him driving away and got his number plate and reported the incident to the park curator and the police.

So many interviews, formalities, delays, etc.

The perpetrator's wife had washed his clothes before the police enacted their warrant!

Eventually he pleaded guilty and the magistrate went soft on him, with only a fine and probation.

However, the effect of this attack was quite devastating on my wife's psychology. She lost trust. She's gone through life harboring that distrust and it manifests in anger. The PTSD has rubbed off on all her relationships with family and friends. Meanwhile the <deleted> who assaulted her has gone through life oblivious to the deep trauma he has caused.

It's a sad fact women suffer tremendous sexual abuse all over the world and, very often, the male perpetrators are protected, even praised.

Example : Epstein, Trump, the Tate brothers, etc, etc.

The fact is we live in a world historically governed by misogyny. If we want to change the world in a positive way then it's up to us, individually and collectively, to treat eachother with kindness and respect.

There will always be "men" who look down on, abuse, neglect, and think women are there for their pleasure only. Like most everything else wrong in the world, it starts at home, and by the time they're out in the world spreading hatred and hurting others, it's too late.

Spotting these types, calling them out, arresting them if possible, and educating your girls while still young what to expect from many men in this world are the only ways to curb their behavior. Extreme penalties for those involved in sexual assaults, punishment fitting the offense, enforcement like what happened here, and putting those involved away so they can't hurt anyone else is also mandatory.

I hope for your wife's sake she can come to terms on this, realizing it had nothing to do with her but that there is evil in this world walking about and all you can do is try and protect yourself and others as best you can, because they think only of themselves, that humans are targets for their sickness, and she's not alone in this.

Years ago (maybe 20) I was on an assignment in the ME, either Kuwait City or Amman and riding in a taxi. The driver was from Pakistan and I told him I lived in Thailand.He got a very serious look on his face and said "is it true you can make Thai (women) b!tch for you and not pay them anything?" I answered no and explained if he didn't pay them (he meant bar girls) that they would call the cops and he'd be in big trouble. So, yeah, I wouldn't want to take my wife or daughter (ever) to Pakistan. Another time, during the floods in Bangkok, we stayed at a hotel in South Pattaya with our two young kids. It was loaded with south Asian single men. My wife was (is) quite hot looking and several of these pervs would just stare at her - at breakfast, by the pool. It was really uncomfortable. So after a few days, and to avoid getting into a fight and scaring our kids, we moved to a more upmarket hotel.

I was on a Thai Int. flight from PER to BKK a few years ago about 03:00 there was a big commotion, the cabin staff had a Farang bailed up. Apparently he had been thru the toilets destroying the sanitary pad boxes and this weidos wife was supporting him!!!!! Ya gotta wunda.

I've always wondered why you give me one thumbs down after another, like a few trolls here do when you prove them wrong a few times and they can't get over it, but that reply helps my thinking on what your thinking really is.

Women aren't objects but humans like us, equal and worthy of respect. Downgrading this offense into "barely a crime" when it has psychological implications, is having her look like she's nothing. Hopefully she gets over it soon enough and understands this was all about that weirdo and not her..

The OP states that this is sentence according to the victims facebook page.

It seems that , in this case, justice was extremely fast.

Assuming that the sentence is correct it seems, to me, to be appropriate.

It is not only the crime that the courts should consider but also the circumstances. This happened on a plane, a metal box, where you are forced to sit next to the person assigned by the airline and there is nowhere to escape.

A deterrent sentence such as this is needed and it should be widely reported that any unwanted sexual misconduct on a plane will be dealt with by a custodial sentence.

On the other hand airlines would need to have CCTV in the cabin that records the entire flight. Because at this rate anybody can claim anything during the flight. Not saying the lady was lying but there can be confusions or wrongful accusations or misunderstandings. The CCTV recordings make allegations fool-proof.
