Not even in politics? He has an infinitely better CV than Farage, what are you talking about? Decades in politics and has served in senior roles in the cabinet.

He was an MP from 2001 to 2017 when he ran for mayor and was elected three times.

His had senior roles in a shadow cabinet and in actual government he served as Chief Secretary to the Treasury,

Secretary of State for Culture, Media and Sport, and Secretary of State for Health.

The Government have not ignored housing and utility prices.

Net Zero is creating jobs and reducing reliance on imported oil and gas, itself the cause of much of the inflation the UK is suffering.
