Yes, for arrival. For departure you do immigration first then get the train to SAT-1.

Not possible. SAT-1 is in the middle of the concourse with taxi ways etc around it. It'll never be near any roads. The masterplan was always to have two main terminals - current one at the north end and a duplicate at the south end with road and train access from the Bang Na side. And two standalone SAT concourses in the midfield.

Here you can see T1 (existing terminal) with SAT 1.

And here is the modified masterplan with a bigger southern T2 and SAT-1 in-between. I believe a SAT-2 is no longer part of the plan as it could cause bottlenecks with baggage handling so there'll be a bigger T2 instead with direct road access, immigration etc.

Amazing that this was all originally planned in 1982 and hasn't really fundamentally changed since except the dropping of a SAT-2.

That wouldn't make any sense. They would have to duplicate everything to have the services in SAT1 terminal, and would also have to change where the train goes to since they couldn't dump those people into the terminal, they would have to come out at baggage collection.

Seems good to separate those with reentry permits from those without.

How does slow immigration processing cause delayed baggage? How quickly do you pass through outbound immigration now that they are virtually all e-gates? Compared with the previous shuffling queue and stamping malarkey I mean? Increasing the e-gates on arrival and the amount of travellers that qualify to use them is definitely not going to slow things down, no matter how much you appear to want it to.

If one is refused and one has checked baggage, one surrenders one's baggage tags to staff and one's checked bags will be recovered and delivered to one's departing flight. It's very efficient, especially since one won't really need them.

No, sorry to disappoint you, but I am typically the last one to deplane. I always get a window seat so I never block anyone, even the impatient ones. Last month I arrived from AMS early afternoon, waited till everyone was off and had a leisurely walk all the way to immigration, avoiding the travelators which is good exercise after an 11 hour flight. I joined a short queue of about 5 people, stgamped in and then through to baggage claim where 'Last Bag' was already illuminated and both my bags were there. Bags on trolley, through Customs and upstairs to domestic self check in and bag drop.

From docking at C5 to bag drop, maybe 25 minutes and no crowds of people outside the rest rooms, no people getting on travelators and stopping walking, but more importantly, nobody wresting with their overhead baggage and standing for 10 minutes before they opened the door and started disembarking.
