Phuket forum seeks 15-day cap on Israeli tourists

You really think the market positioning of a chabad house in Chicago is relevant to the way chabad houses operate in Thailand? Is the house in Chicago also Israeli territory?

I don't think the Chabad House in Skokie is engaged in market positioning, but I believe both have similar missions: to function as community centers that provide religious services and lifestyle support to Jews around the world. Of course a Chabad House in the U.S. works under a very different set of circumstances that one in Thailand.

And this the rabbi and his family at one of the Phuket Chabad Houses. Not a very sinister or threatening group.

An Israeli woman doesn't take her shoes off in a restaurant and its never forgot about , catchphrases of her saying "My moneeee built your Country" are frequently repeated and even her photo was used as an avtar here .

If a non Israeli did likewise , it wouldnt even be a media reported story .

I think what happened at the chabad house on Phuket is important to the behaviour of chabad houses in Thailand. Issues as well with the one on samui. You may brush it under the carpet, i think it shows a not welcome attitude.

You want to be welcomed at a Chabad House?

Why? I hadn't realized you were a Orthodox Jew.

The 'my money build your country' chick was actually pretty hot. Seems she's now all over the web (in various forms of attire).

Clearly Chabad are very moderate and reasonable force, not a right wing rabid ultra pro Israel force, that specifically caters to IDF terrorists.

Chabad’s Extremist Turn

In April, Israel’s Minister of National Security Itamar Ben-Gvir toured the United States in his first-ever trip to the country as a government official. Many Jewish groups refused to meet with Ben-Gvir, a follower of Meir Kahane whose extremism stands out even in an Israeli political scene awash in anti-Palestinian racism. But Ben-Gvir was welcomed by Chabad rabbis at Yale in New Haven, in South Florida, as well as at 770 Eastern Parkway, the Chabad headquarters in Crown Heights, Brooklyn. The latter appearance sparked protests outside 770, which were met with violence by Chabadniks. In particular, a mob chanting “Death to Arabs” chased a female passerby for several blocks, kicking, spitting, and throwing objects at her. Other videos showed Chabadniks lighting a keffiyeh on fire, shoving and kicking members of the Hasidic anti-Zionist group Neturei Karta, and bloodying a female protester (herself a Jewish Israeli).

If you take the basic theological framework of ultra-Orthodoxy and you switch it into a political register, it is a very reactionary worldview. The notion that the Jew has a special soul that non-Jews don’t have—and this is not particular to Chabad, this is really going back to the Middle Ages and the Zohar—it’s fine, in a certain way, if that exists in some ethereal ideational framework that doesn’t have any political ramifications. But if you start to actually bring that down into politics, I think what you end up getting is Kahanism, in some way. That’s why Ben-Gvir, he makes a lot of sense to a lot of Lubavitchers, because they see the world in the way that he sees them. And I think that it does precede October 7th, but something happened in October 7th that created a trauma that allowed this particular way of thinking about “us versus them,” especially in the kind of things that you hear from people from the Chabad community about Arabs.

https://jewishcurrents.org/chabads-extremist-turn

The Chabad-Lubavitch movement strongly opposes territorial concessions and "land for peace" negotiations regarding the Land of Israel, a stance rooted firmly in the teachings of the late Lubavitcher Rebbe, Rabbi Menachem Mendel Schneerson.

The Rebbe based his opposition on Section 329 of the Shulchan Aruch (the Code of Jewish Law).

Rejection of "Land for Peace"

Chabad argues that historical peace processes—such as the Camp David Accords, the Oslo Accords, and the Gaza disengagement—demonstrate that ceding land signals weakness and invites further aggression rather than lasting peace. The movement advocates for a position of military deterrence, undivided sovereignty, and widespread settlement to guarantee safety.

7 pages of mostly a rehash of disinformation and bigotry. It seems only one person had a good idea of what the intention was. Are you people really this easily manipulated? Why are you so quick to imagine conspiracies when it comes to your homelands, but you cannot ask the most basic of questions? Is it because you don't care about the truth and are looking to reinforce your existing hatred? The laughable aspect of this event is that the reference to Israelis was intended to attract attention. Had anyone read the organizer's comments, you would have seen that the event was intended as an information session and not a protest and was in respect to all foreigners.

Aren't you interested in this group and the organizer?

The Phuket Land Protection Group was created on August 24. It's self appointed leader is local "influencer" and aspiring politician Saichon Nuchat.

Where did the money come from for the group and is it true some of the attendees were paid?

This is a good question. It was asked, and a direct response was not obtained. The organizer said 500 would attend. The media who observed estimated approx. 150 and the motivation of some of the participating transport collective members was not believed to be one of community interest.

Did the Phuket Land Protection group provide any documentation, or evidence to support their claims?

No they did not. On the contrary, the organizer when pressed by media for examples could only offer, that he had received complaints. He also said that the problems were not specific to Israelis.

I'm living on Phangan Island, which might as well be called Tel Aviv on Sea, because the vast majority of foreigners are Israeli. I have absolutely no problem with elderly Israelis (not seen any!), Israeli families with kids (plenty of those). But I do feel 'heavy in my heart' when sitting at a restaurant next to IDF or ex-IDF males.

Did he murder an innocent Gazan child last week? I prefer to eat elsewhere......

Your comments would be laughable if they were not so pathetic. Because you have accepted the Pallywood propaganda blindly, you conclude that Israeli tourists are murdering "innocent Gazan children". I can see why you have had the chronic problems that you have had over the years with a mindset like that. What's next, blaming the Israeli for your chronic career issues?

On 8/30/2026 at 5:40 AM, G-String said:

We are discussing the Israeli problem.

There isn't an Israeli visitor problem. The crime rates for Israelis in Thailand are far, far less than those of Europeans, Australians, and others. The problem that the Israelis have is that they have failed to counter the misinformation that is actively disseminated and found on websites like this.

I can see when there is a concerted effort to manipulate public sentiment. Stupid people cannot. It was perfected during Covid with disinformation campaign intended to destabilize western civilization. It continues today.

The Rebbe based his opposition on Section 329 of the Shulchan Aruch (the Code of Jewish Law).

  • The Rule: The law states that if hostile forces besiege a Jewish border town—even if they claim they only want "straw and stubble"—the residents must take up arms to repel them, even on the Sabbath.

  • The Reason: Yielding any territory makes the rest of the land vulnerable to easy conquest.

  • The Principle: Chabad teaches that surrendering land for diplomatic promises violates Pikuach Nefesh (the preservation of human life), which overrides all other commandments.

Rejection of "Land for Peace"

Chabad argues that historical peace processes—such as the Camp David Accords, the Oslo Accords, and the Gaza disengagement—demonstrate that ceding land signals weakness and invites further aggression rather than lasting peace. Thanks for that informative post.

Orthodox Chabad teachings have some things in common with Christian Zionism.

Both - in their own ways - promote the ludicrous notion that Jews are God's Chosen People who are above any laws except their own.

I am quite shocked by that , that Chabads spread info that Jews don't have to abide by Thai laws .

If thats the case, then Chabads should be closed down if they promote breaking laws .

BTW , where did you get your info from ?

The info that Chabads tell Jews they don't have to abide by Thai law?

Chabad is both interesting, fascinating and ghoulishly terrifying at the same time. Bizarrely they do not support Zionism, but subscribe to a mystico-religious Jewish nationalism that is even more scary.

What is so terrifying is that they succeed largely in portraying themselves as this innocuous donut provider with a touch of Judaism, even in Israel. Yet they do not support the state and are more right wing than the most extreme Zionists.

Chabad are truly terrifying. Also because they are one of the richest organizations on planet earth. They have 1 billion USD to 2 billion USD coming in EVERY SINGLE YEAR.

I don't know if it will work a max of 15 days.. I believe that a tourist visa should not be able to be extended and after you left the country there should be a non entry of 90 days or so.. Of course for the 1 year long term visa there is the re-entry, but not for tourist visas with a max stay of 60 days. That should be single entry...

There will be problems I believe if only Israelis are allowed to stay 15 days..They will play the discrimination card

I don't think that card works on Thais, who generally don't fall for the hocus pocus.

No, the "discriminaton card" doesn't work on Thais.

If it did, there wouldn't be the blowback against Israelis that we see wherever they buy up businesses, villas, and otherwise try to dominate the scene.

However, scratch the surface and Chabad support Israeli terrorists, ultra-right wing haters and even reject the state of Israel itself, the political Zionist entity. They're anti-Zionists. Because their philosophy is mystical nationalism based in religion.

Yawn...... the young, fit male Israelis on this island are mostly either serving IDF, reservists or ex-IDF. That's a fact. If there were not so many proven cases of IDF soldiers killing innocent kids, then I wouldn't have a problem with them..

As for the Israeli females, this is how they behave (photo taken by me yesterday - she was speaking Hebrew, and that 7/11 is not on the beach...). I can take photos like this every day of the week of Israeli tourists' unacceptable behaviour on this island.....

.. or perhaps you think that this kind of behaviour is ok?
