Hi,

I was under the impression that sex toys were illegal in Thailand. Yet someone sent me an email about a product called Tenga, which is basically a masturbation toy for men hehe..

A thai person read the FAQ for me and said they claim that the toys are legally imported from japan. So now I am curious if there has been any change in the laws; I don't know so many Thais that I can ask about this.

They even have a Thai website - www.tenga.co.th. Knowing the administrative loops you have to jump to register a .co.th it surely must be legal ... :o

There doesn't seem to be any concrete law determining such Toys to be illegal.

That however said, it has been rightly pointed out that some companies have been busted over the years for selling such stuff and had photos splashed on the front page of the Thai dailies.

As reported in Thai press lately too, a couple of companies were raided for offering 'phone sex' service. There excuse for the busts was 'prostitution services'. There is nothing in the Thai law that talking dirty to someone is illegal. Sometimes the police just make their laws up!

Such toys are available in Thailand but mostly over the Net, after a 2 minute google search in Thai langauge i found one called 'Hellosextoys' proudly celebrating on their site four years in the business. Again, located at .com the police could easily bust if they wish!!

Just because you saw it sold in the night market, doesn't mean it was legal.

If he saw them in Patpong they were probably illegal :o

Not true. Patpong has recently been certified as having 'no illegal activities' by one of the honourable ministers.

I think they're illegal unless they're living and breathing in which case the police turn a blind eye......

...and the batteries last a lot longer in the living and breathing varieties.

How about all those wooden dongs used in local religious ceremonies / fertility rites and the like? Are they legal? Or do they cease to be legal after adding batteries? :o

Those are just for show. Splinters make any other use problematic.

Sex Toys?

They are still available but are getting more expensive - I got a hardly used one in cowboy for 1500 the other night and 2000 for a few extra hours :o

thailand has an abundance of fruit & vegetables that come in all shapes & sizes.

I concur; but how on earth do you get the fruit to wobble, thus providing the necessary titillation?

how.. ???? , a bloke to help the bird out of course :o:D ,

Well I get the impression the OP is taking a liberty. The items he was emailed about appeared in one of the free magazines last week {BK?} and are for use by the male of the species. As is common in societies like Thailand, male stimulation s always seen as less of a social issue than femalel stimulation, hence the questionable legality of aids which could be used primarily by women. Threatening for some I wonder?

Couldn't they just limit the legal size?

Or take viagra and grow your own toy!

Or use you nose it's cheaper

Viagra have just brought out a range of eye-drops. They don't do much for you sexually, but at least make you look hard.
