How To Load Ubuntu From Live Cd

Featured Replies

Just received a live Ubuntu CD and it says to put the CD in and re-start . When I re-start, windows loads, nothing happens and everything looks the same. I can only get the Ubuntu browser. What am I doing wrong? It also says on the cd cover if you want to install double click install but don't see it anywhere.

You need to go into your BIOS settings and change the boot order and put the CD as the first boot device. To get to the mainboard BIOS, restart the computer and press the DEL key until the BIOS menu comes up.

After Ubuntu loads from the CD the "Install" option will show on the desktop. However, I would use caution running the install in that it could over write XP so watch the steps very closely when it comes to partitioning for dual boot. Would be best to just get familiar with Ubuntu from the live CD for a while.
