Latest On Popiet Visa-on-arrival Run

Featured Replies

Has anyone tried getting a VOA from Poipet lately? I'd like to know if you can buy a bus ticket there as proof of onward travel (as you apparently can at the new Cambodian border), or if they insist on an air ticket.

Hope you can help as my visa expires Friday.

The most up to date reports are that you need to show an air ticket there.

Are you going to need a VOA, or a visa-exempt entry? They are completely different as one is a visa and one is not.

just got back tonight from aranyaprathet/poipet and while i have a triple-entry tourist visa, there were prominent signs in front of the foreigners passport control desks that said foreigners entering on voa's must show an outgoing airline ticket that was good within 30 days.am sure it did state airline ticket unless my eyes were numb from watching the whirling sphinxes and pirates from all the slot machines.

I was there roughly two weeks ago and I can also confirm that there are signs prominently posted at the immigration officer's desks indicating that you will need to show an air ticket for departure within 30 days.

In case any one was wondering, I went in and out on a Non-B and the officer was quite polite and spoke decent English - made a notation on my entry stamp showing which page the current visa was on, even corrected the visa number (though I swear I wrote it correctly the first time). Then one of the admin girls walked by and started to speak to me in English - and when I answered in Thai she giggled and the officer also smiled, chattering away about how I could pass for a Thai (my verbal Thai is passable but it isn't THAT good).

Thus I think it can safely be said that this air ticket requirement only applies to Visa On Arrival.
