Ubon Ratchathani: 81-Year-Old Woman and Two Dogs Perish in House Fire
Picture courtesy of Khaosod. An 81-year-old woman and her two dogs tragically died in a house fire that burned for over two hours in Ubon Ratchathani. The elderly woman was unable to escape the flames, and authorities are investigating the cause of the fire. On September 12, Pol. Lt. Col. Chalermyos Promsuwan, an investigator from Mueang Ubon Ratchathani Police Station, received a report of a fire at a house located in Soi Chayangkul 12.3, on Chayangkul Road, Nai Mueang Subdistrict, Mueang Ubon Ratchathani District. The house was a two-story wooden structure, and the fire engulfed the entire building, making it difficult to control After approximately two hours, the fire was finally brought under control. Upon searching the charred remains of the house, rescue teams discovered the body of Mrs. Tiew, aged 81, who had perished in the flames, along with the remains of her two pet dogs. Mr. Paramat Nopputho, 32, a witness, recounted that the house was occupied by the elderly woman, her son, and their two dogs. He was resting in a nearby dormitory when he heard sounds resembling electrical short circuits two or three times. When he stepped outside to investigate, he saw that the house was on fire. The flames were already intense, so he immediately called 191 for help. Mr. Sanchai, 55, the son of the deceased, stated that he and his mother lived together with the two dogs. He typically returned home from work around 20:00, but some nights he stayed at his wife’s house in Det Udom District. On the day of the fire, he was informed by neighbors that his house was ablaze. By the time he arrived, his mother and the dogs had already perished. The exact cause of the fire remains unclear. Mr. Sanchai mentioned that his mother, who suffered from Alzheimer’s, often cooked for the dogs despite his warnings. Authorities are still investigating the origin of the fire, with forensic experts expected to examine the site further. -- 2024-09-13 Get the ASEAN NOW daily NEWSLETTER - Click HERE to subscribe -

KFC in decline?
That's a shame, because I enjoyed a monthly (or so) change of pace from KFC. I miss cole slaw... KFC's cole slaw isn't the best in the USA, but it was the best I found in LOS. I wonder if the franchise agreement specifies that they must use ingredients sold to them by KFC, or stay true to the Colonel's recipe? Fried chicken is my most common street food meal. I buy a small jar of the Thai dipping sauce when I check into my hotel. I've experienced good then bad street fried chicken, and I always chalked it up to how old the oil was (and whether they fried fish or old socks between chicken batches). -

HOW TO: How to remove "Garbage DTAC Slogan) from my phone? (dtac:Better Together) NOT!
UPDATE: Temporary Fix until DTAC stops using this Garbage Slogan.... One, apparently, needs to download and install this APP from Samsung, and then do the required settings: The only problem with this is that one is required to have an extra app running just to get rid of a Dumb Slogan. This makes ZERO sense. And, is there an alternative option which will NOT require using this Good Lock App??? -

Foreign Owned Restauraunts in Thailand
Yeah that's a Thai Ladys way of telling you Thai food is the only Food as far as she's concerned🤣 I.m.o. of course Hopefully my idea will pan out. I haven't got a huge list(or a Menu as it were) of American style foods. I think that's a great way to have loads of food waste that drains the bank account. I'm looking to keep it simple. Less than 5 items as a menu. Not really a sit down place so much as a Plate Lunch style like the Hawaiians kind of perfected. Keep costs down, food moving through the conveyor belt style of place. And enough Thai items priced at local prices to not have people turned off by the expense. I really appreciate all you posters who took the time by the way🫡 -
