Hi,

I am confused,I have a NON imm B come from england and I also have a work permit.

My non imm B visa expires on October 24th,just had my 90 day extension as per nomal and its been extended/reprot again on 25 th December.

I am guessing this is a mistake and I have to submit my year end paperwork and gain another visa.

Help appreciated.

No it is not in error - you received the normal 90 days permitted to stay stamp - visa validity is only when you have to enter the country - you can stay beyond that date.

I assume you had a multi entry non immigrant visa and just made a new entry. Before December 25 you will need to obtain a new visa or (if qualified) extend your stay for one year at immigration.

Hi Lopburi,

Thanks for the speedy response, the visa sorry was a single entry which was then extended in Bangkok using a work permit.

I am assuming that I must get back to Bangkok before 24 th of October to etend my stay again for one year?

Sorry if I am being stupid here.

Extensions are one year at a time for most people - are you saying you received a 90 day extension of stay from Immigration? If you did it will be the same as a 90 day entry and you are allowed to stay until that date - the date of the visa expiration is only for entry into the country. You need to extend before Dec 25. The visa date is dead once you enter the country (for single entry) - the only important date is the "extension of stay permitted up to" date.

Hi Lopburi,

My first extension of stay was granted February 2007,so if I understand you correctly that is for a year and the visa is irrelevant.

Yes I did recieve a further 90 days stay/extension until 25 th December.

The reason I am confused is the guy in immigration Ayutthaya told me I must submit all of the paperwork for the next year by, the 24 th October and then kindly stamped me in until 25th december, after telling me it was only going to be a month extension of stay and to re-apply with my accounts and new sets of documents.in the next month. Clear as mud...

What exactly is stamped in your passport as "extension of stay permitted up to" date? You said Bangkok in one post and Aytthaya in another. Are you getting Extensions of stay - work permit re-activation - and maybe 90 day address reports mixed up?

What is stamped in your work permit?

When is your next TM.47 address report due?

Where exactly does October 24 appear?

As you now say you obtained an extension in Feb have no idea why you would have a single entry non immigrant B visa with that date on it. When/where/why was that visa obtained.

Hi Lopburi,

I will get all of the documents in front of me and add detail tomorrow.

Many Thanks

Just as a heads up. This is not the case in China. I was "detained" at the immigration office after my visa had expired, but before the entry stamp expired. They said that I had to leave the country before the visa expired. That I was only allowed to be in the country until that date. This was for the multi entry. On a single entry you just have to enter before it expires, then you get the normal stay.

Also, they tell me that because I have a 1 year multi-entry business visa, if I came in the country on the first day of the visa, I could stay for a year without leaving. That there was no requirement for only being in the country for 30 or 90 days per trip. This is China though.

Hi Lopburi,

Got all my facts.

I was given a non imm B on 24 th October last year, which was extended untill the 24th October this year after I was given my work permit.

Both the extension of stay and the work permit expire on 24th October 2007.

I think I was slightly confused as you said, with the 90 day address reporting.

I am still assuming I must submit all of my documents again before the 24th of October to gain another years extension, should they see fit..

Many thanks for all the advice, can I ask one last question?

As my business has yet to file its first years accounst, can I expect problems for the renewal,or will the letter suffice.

Many Thanks

I don't follow business visas that closely but from my limited retention of previous posts you may well have a problem obtaining an extension of stay this year - all the more reason to do next week and allow yourself time to make a Consulate run for a new visa if need be. I believe that first year accounting is a requirement.

Nick, I just fear that extending right now might be a little bit difficult due to missing tax filings and tax payments.

I guess your job in the forseeable future is to keep your present visa alive by Single Non-B-Visa runs outside Thailand and to concentrate what I said before. Thread one and two may also be of some guidance.

Hi Lopburi,

You are always helpful with these issues thanks.

If I then need to run to get a visa, would you suggest Penang? and will I then only need to show the company set up,as per the first time for gaining a visa?

Thanks

Penang should be OK but I do not know what paperwork is required. Hopefully someone can provide that information - if no reply here and you do indeed need the information I would start a new thread then. It is also probably a possibility to phone one of the visa agents (you can find with Google) and get current information from them. Most people report positively on such conversations.
