Totster Posted August 6, 2004 Posted August 6, 2004 Best album I bought this year is Black Cherry by Goldfrapp... takes a bit of getting into but it's a pure work of art... Might get the Streets album this weekend.....
richb2004 Posted August 6, 2004 Posted August 6, 2004 My recently purchased Cd's are: Morrissey, you are the quarry - Brilliant!! Bob Dylan, Blonde on Blonde - My first Dylan album. Very impressed. Jewel, Pieces of You - Unexpectedly good. Half Man Half Biscuit, Saucy Haulage Ballads - Excellent EP Half Man Half Biscuit, Voyage to the bottom of the Road - Brilliant. Unique A good selection I think.
gintonic_nolime Posted August 6, 2004 Posted August 6, 2004 Evanescence - "Fallen" Amy Lee has a great set of pipes. Live concert in Vancouver was great too.
SeaVisionBurma Posted August 7, 2004 Posted August 7, 2004 Highly recommend FRANZ FERDINAND, Scottish glam rock group of sorts. In particular tracks called "Matinee" and "Take me Out" Chonabot, if you like Jet you'll probably like this mob. I'm downloading yours now for a looksee (hearlisten?) igotworms - I remember a great Tragically Hip track from a few years back called Poets. Still listen to it often now. Must have a listen to their new stuff. Islands in the middle of nowhere, unofrtunately, ain't the best place to discover new music. Bless Satellite Internet.
drummer Posted August 7, 2004 Posted August 7, 2004 I think it prolly came out last year, but the White Stripes' album is pretty good. I like Audioslave, too.
igotworms Posted August 8, 2004 Author Posted August 8, 2004 igotworms - I remember a great Tragically Hip track from a few years back called Poets. Still listen to it often now. Must have a listen to their new stuff. The Hip are a great Canadian band. Most Canadians either hate or love em'. I'm of the latter category of course. When a band has been together for over 20 years, they tend to put out some tight music. "Poets", is off of their album "Phantom Power". Not a bad album, check out "Bobcaygeon" as well, heck you wouldn't go wrong getting the whole album. Their last album, "In Between Evolution" (released in June) has 3 great tracks, "It can't be Nashville every night", "Are we family" and "Gus: the polar bear from Central Park". My Favourite Hip Albums: 1) Day for Night 2) Fully Completely 3) In Violet Light 4) Live Between Us (an awesome live concert) My Favourite Albums of All time: 1) The Lonesome Crowded West by Modest Mouse (this album rocks!) Stand out tracks: Polar Opposites, Styrofoam Boots, Trailer Trash, Doin' the Cockroach 2) Sharpen Your Teeth by Ugly Casanova (lead singer from Modest Mouse with members of Califone, Holopaw and Black Heart Procession) 3) A Ghost is Born by Wilco (their entire back catalogue is amazing) 4) Building Nothing Out of Something by Modest Mouse 5) The Meadowlands by the Wrens
