Non Immigrant B Visa And Work Permit

Featured Replies

I obtained a Multiple Entry 1 Year Non Immigrant B Visa from the Thai Consulate in Houston using papers from a school I would be attending for a month, not working at, because she said that would be fine. I have now been in Thailand for 2 months, and I still do not have a job, therefore no work permit. I have gone to Cambodia and re-entered Thailand without any trouble, but I am nervous that if I don't get a job/work permit soon I'm going to be at risk for ... a fine? jail? something?

I looked over all of my Visa paperwork and nothing says that I need a work permit if I am not working, even if I have a Non Imm B Visa. But with all the talk about needing a Non Imm B Visa if you have a work permit, I am getting terribly confused and concerned. :o

Can anyone shed some light on this for me?

Thank you!!!

You do not need a work permit to enter/look for employment or business on a B visa. Only if you actually work is a work permit required.

provided you exit and re-enter Thailand at least every 90 days you'll be able to enter on the non-Imm B visa until the visa expiry date.
