Hi all.

Currently my 1-year extensions (3 of them already) are based on my 40,000 Baht salary and we're keeping my wife's salary out of it.

The requirement though is 40,000 Baht combined for the 2 of us (as I understand it).

If we were to include her salary (for argument sake, 10K), which she wouldn't have to pay income tax on as it's too low, would it mean that I could drop my salary to 30K, pay taxes on 30K instead of 40K, and submit our combined salaries to immigration as 40K, even though our combined taxes paid will be less than it is now?

I'll probably leave things as-is anyway as it would be less of a hassle to pay the extra taxes every month than to try and get the paperwork out of her employer. Currently it's working out quite well anyway so wouldn't want to "fix" it if it ain't broken.

Just curious. Want to make sure I understand the regulations thoroughly. :-)

Thanx.

Yes but it is probably, as you say, better to do as now. It would also be better if sometime in the future you wanted to apply for PR.

The Requirement is 40,000 Baht, meaning that if you are ONLY making 35,000 and your Wife was making 10.. Then you could combine to reach the 40,000 needed.. or If you are already making 40K then your wife doesn't need to report any income... or If your wife makes 40K all by herself :D then You don't have to have ANY income and can have your wife support You. :D:o:D:D

Good Luck
