Thanks for that. Seems they have a similar price structure to that of a few months ago when we bought ours.

I wondered if they had put the VGS engine in the 2WD but apparently not. 20% as a minimum seems high as it used to be 10%.

The ALL NEW Isuzu will be out in March 2008

Motoring guys mentioned something like 2009 - 2010 once which is more like it. March 2008 is too close and there are no news about it whatsoever. It would be impossible for Isuzu to buck the trend and keep the developments in complete secret.

I am very undecided to buy a Vigo 4x4 or the LS 3.0 VGS in the next weeks. You have the Isuzu now for 2 weeks. I am curious about your opinion re. brakes, loudness and fuelconsumption? Is the 4wd working satisfactory? What are the weaknesses...

I'll be honest that if I could have gotten a decent looking Vigo 2WD with an auto box I would probably have bought that (if finance options were the same - i.e. available !) The reason was that I had one on hire for a month and it was great. I couldn't justify the 30-40% down for the 4*4 option and the Prerunner only came in manual.

I thought the Vigo auto box was better but after 5 months with the D-Max I am not so sure.

What about the power in the Vigo 4*4 with the extra weight ? Not that any of them are sporty cars but I hear the VGS engine is very good.

As for noise, I'd say there is not much in it and with the stereo on, or cruising, I can't tell them apart.

I'd be interested in the VGS engine and I'd want to take a 4*4 Vigo out before I committed.

Finally, the Vigo is a bigger vehicle and has leather options (though the gold series D-Max might have now) but there were no leather options 5 months ago.

What is a PII, PIII and PIV ?? if this is Intel CPU, I have never had any, never made any comments about them, I know nothing about them…

I do not have a girlfriend or a tiger.

I build myself a new Computer every 18months for the past 20 years and always AMD, last one I built for myself was 5 weeks ago. I have build about 20 for friends in the past 4 years.

I own a 2005 Honda Jazz Sport + a 2006 Isuzu DMax SX.

I have a very good friend that is an Area Manager for Isuzu, and another that is a Senior Manager for the largest All Truck parts Company in Thailand.

I have never even driven a Fortuner so how would I know anything about them? I have driven a Vigo, dreadful drive after a Isuzu

Well, then it appears your good friend area manager is pulling your leg unless there's confirmation from some other sources.

Toyota sales people would be the last ones to start rumors about new models and tell their customers to come back after a year, maybe it's different with Isuzus. Or maybe there's a platinum, super fancy ten year old model in the works.

Actually I'm curious about this new Isuzu as well, I can't tell how many times I was disappointed when all they did was add another chrome piece somewhere instead.

I have ordered a Hilander 2 dr cab, picking it up on Monday. And nothing to do with gold badges. The gold series is to celebrate 50 years in Thailand BTW.

I was going to go for the Toyota Prerunner but seeing that other thread and the stability problem, it really put me off plus the cream colour interrior, with kids it would be ruinned in no time. Originally I ordered a Nissan Navara but the people in the show room in Pattaya took thi P**S, I felt like a 2nd class citizen because we changed our minds about buying the top model 4 dr automatic. they wern't calling us back they kept leaving us hanging on, so I told them to shove it! I was worried if the pre-sales service is poor the post had to be worse.

Somthing strange about the Isuzu, when I went to look she gave me one price then said that A/C was an extra 26K??? I told her what if i don't want A/C? she said they are fitted standard. I don't understand why she said that the A/C is extra?? but anyway, i still liked the truck, looks like a really solid well built truck.

Hi Birdman,

I've never driven a Toyota Vigo so I don't have any knowledge about the Vigo other than the posts on this board. My previous car was a D-Max LS 3.0 2003. Driving this new LS 3.0 VGS is a very big difference compared with my old LS. My friend has a LS 3.0 iTec 2005. I drove his car on recent holiday trip for 2,500 km. Both he and I find that the VGS is much faster and much more quiet than his LS 2005.

The LS has ABS with EBD.

I drove the past 1,300 km on 12.2 km/l. With the old LS it would have been 8-10 km/l.

I like the dual airbags.

The 4WD system is same as my old LS. You can change 2WD to 4WD while driving (up to 100-120 km/h).

The LS should have weaknesses but I'm not aware of any. This is my 3rd Isuzu since May 2001.

Weren't you saying the other day that it was crap compared to the Vigo, and that you regreted buying it? Or am i thinking of another Mikethevigoman?

A lot more actually. Inject a bit of life into something that's past its prime, and thus make some more money. What you might call, milking it dry.

When I first started looking for a new truck about 9 months ago, the D-Max was priced a few thousand above its Toyota equivalent. Just before I bought the D-Max, 5 months ago, the price was less as they had stripped out the 25k or so for the aircon system. The total price had not changed.

I took this as being in competition with Toyota who wsilst they only show prices on paper for the complete truck, do seperate out the prices on the on window stickers and thus make the headline price seem more attractive.

As for leather, it just wasn't on the option list as we did enquire but after driving the hire leather Vigo for a month, I canot say I prefer the leather anyway but I would probably have taken the option up.

no not me,

I test drove the D-Max the Nassan Navara and the Toyota Prerunner yesterday.... have to say, I was most unimpressed with the power of Isuzu, although I like the truck overall it is only 116BHP. I can understand why thay are supposed to be the most fuel efficient, it had no power, no guts at all.. it was the 2.5ltr and to be honest its really put me off and I canceled my order there and then, I lost 5k deposit but I just new I would of been unhappy with this truck, . The Nissan was much more powerful I thought but the manual gearbox, well I felt like from 1st to 3rd the gears where way too close, I would be sick of changing through the the first three gears to get to a driving speed, defo would need to buy the auto version. BUT>>> the Toyota...I have to say wow, what a motor....the power is fantastic for a truck, a 3 litre intercooler turbo banging out 163BHP I was so impressed with it, it felt much more comfortable too. The only trouble is the stability problem, I think I will going for the Toyota now but a lower version. I have fell in love with it.

Yeah, 3l Isuzus are just as fast in real life.

I would be very suspicious of their sales tactics - it looks like their are consciously pushing an inferior product. Even their famous brand loyalty is not enough against Toyota's truck anymore.

Not you cos i wasn't talking about you Mr Kenjin. Refering to Mikethevigoman. Or do you post under different names?

Guys it's not leather you get in these pick-ups.. it's PVC.

Depends. Some brands offer leather on some models.

I don't get what's good about leather in this climate either, but it IS leather. :o

Leather (whether real or not), might be impractical when it gets hot, but at least it doesn't act like a big sponge for all your sweat, as fabric seats do.

Who is this "we" who agreed?

In fact in top of the range segment Toyota ousells Isuzu something like 5 to 1. Isuzu had an edge for 2wd workhorse models but not anymore.

From his avatar, i'd guess the "we" is him and his mate down the local.

ok so we are all agreed that the Isuzu 3L top of the range is a better car than the Toyota vigo top of the range. Nice to get that cleared up.

Hi jfluffy

Why then were we (the royal we?) looking for a white Vigo Exclusive not too long ago then ???? :D:D:D:o
